First gun I bought was a well used Winchester Model 12 shotgun with a long long 30" barrel, 1970.l. It was on a rack with other rifles/shotguns (no lock!
back by the rakes/shovels, etc in a Field's store, small town B.C. I picked it up, took to cashier. Gave the nice lady $95 cash( don't recall having to show any i.d.I looked over 18), got a receipt, taped receipt on barrel. walked out the door. walked 2 blocks down main street with said shotgun in hand. Nobody seemed too excited, just a young hairy, fat logger with a shotgun. Put it in my old VW and went home. Shock and horror.... nobody got hurt.
Probably the last gun I'll buy was last week. a nice old lever action . Showed my licence, nice nutter shipped it to me, and now it's home.
The best of times and now the worst of times.World sure was a dangerous place back in the day. I feel MUCH safer now with the progress we've made.

just looking back. I'm going to stick to my reloading room, the range, and the bush. Folks are bit too heated up these days for this old guy.
