Hey all, I just bought my first handgun (yay me). I went with the Beretta M9A1 because I like the feel of the 92 in my hands (they're bigger, grip well) and I like military type equipment in general. It was about 100 bucks more than a comparable 92 but I like the expandability of having an integrated rail and I prefer the two dot/post sights verses the three dot sights. I dunno, it might retain resale value better too if well maintained because they seem to be really hard to find...

Anyway, I'm in Victoria on Vancouver Island and I'm only aware of a single gun shop here by the name of Island Outfitters. I had to order the M9 from Alberta because thats the only place I could find one. Are there any Vic residents here who can recommend any other spots to view/purchase/order firearms or ammunition? Any other M9A1 owners out there? This is my first post to these boards but glad to be aboard.

Fine print complaint: Is anyone else irritated by the mass amounts of airsoft videos and information on many firearms out there on the web? Its like it outnumbers content on legit firearms 2:1 :bangHead:

Yea and and its always like 11 year old kids with the airsoft guns too!

You should post a picture of your gun....or 5

I just recently picked an M9A1 up and so far I really like it. I am sure you will too. I had an easier time finding it by the sounds of things, TSE had at least a couple in stock. Welcome to CGN!

at one time i was lookin at a m9...then went a different way ...still like them..there is a second firearms store in victoria called pullens its up in the highlands area...open friday to sunday ....

Here is a pic of mine:

Hey Bollox, nice gun man. I actually ordered mine from TSE too, and just got it about 30 mins ago. The only thing I notice about it is that it has some civilian features which I was not expecting:

1) The sights are not dot/post but the 3 dot sights common to the 92fs (not really pleased about that)
2) The frame still has the noob warning about reading the manual before use (was under the impression this was absent from military models)
3) The slide is stamped 92fs
4) The manual is Beretta 92fs

The box was M9 though, and the frame has M9A1 behind the serial like yours. Maybe they changed out the M9 slide or something, or really could only get the M9A1 frame portion of the gun and assembled a comparable gun from other interoperable parts? I've also gotten the impression from somewhere (can't remember where exactly) that there is some differences (maybe these differences) between the M9A1 for civ markets and the actual M9A1 ordered by USMC.

I'll post some pics of it in a few hours, gotta run out right now..

Yeah I knew about some of the differences before buying and it is not that big of a deal for me as I was manly interested in the rail and I did not want an Inox version.
I just got home from firing 200+ rounds and I love it, very nice shooter. Accuracy in my novice hands was excellent. I am sure you will like it too.

The only other one that I know of is Pullen's Gunsmithing, which is only open Fri, Sat, Sun, 10-6. Great place, up in the Highlands. Always fresh coffee and free cookies, can just hang out and BS, and buy ammo once in a while :) It's a nice detour on the way up to the Malahat range.

I'm going to go to the range today and I'll probably make the detour to check it out. Apparently the owner is a quality gunsmith and a really nice guy to boot, and thats always good!

bout 500 rounds through my 92fs from TSE with 0 problems. The slide action is worth its weight in gold. Much easier to take down than my CZ75B but less accurate..

Almost like my M9 exept that you have a rail and the grip is slightly different. That must be the difference between a M9 and a M9A1

Pretty much. Have you ever fired +P ammo in it? I've read this pistol can take +P and also +P+? None of that is available where I'm at though :(
