Yes it is a beautiful gun, I'm judging by the heavy frame and wooden grips that it is pre WWII. probably late 1930's.(you can research the serial number to determine it's age) Mine is a 1939 model. These are tough guns and were built to shoot but don't get excited and load it up with 38 special +P rounds. There are those who will tell you that the gun can handle it but you are taking the chance of streching the cylinder. Use regular 38 special loads.
If you want to shoot more powerful 38 special +P loads do yourself a favour and buy a .357 magnum, your gun and your children will thank you (when you pass it down to them).
