First Semi-Auto

There is world of good options just above your price point. The newer Canik's should be a great buy. I haven't used a SD9VE, but haven't heard the best from someone I know that has one. Reviews on the RP9 on the whole, haven't been too positive, or at least the ones I've seen.'

Unlike others, I won't recommend a 22LR first, unless you just want really cheap plinking.

Save a few dollars and look for something good on the EE. There really isn't any try before you buy, unless you can find a local range with rentals.

I had an opportunity to handle the M&P 2.0 the RP9 and the Canik at Cabelas today. All three had very nice features but I felt that the Remington was the nicest of the all to handle. Being a leftie it was the easiest to rack and release the mag, nice piece its on my radar now

Haven't seen a positive review of the RP9 yet, a lot of people who have shot it are underwhelmed to say the least. As a lefty, have a look at the FNS9 if you have a chance, very lefty friendly and far better reviews
