Earlier this week we were finally able to get out and go shoot the 110BA .338 at long range. I found an old furnace door 20"x18" and we hung it off a tree at what I measured with my reticle was 925 yards. The weather was light winds but a bit misty at times. Had an awsome day! My buddy brought his 6.5x284 custom and we were able to get on target after a few shots.
I only had 23 rounds loaded up, took 3 rounds to zero the rifle and get chrony data at 180 yards, then took 3 rounds to get on target. We used iSnipe for our data. I had to bump up the FPS on iSnipe by 83 FPS to get it to match the elevation I had dialed in for 925 yards.
One thing about the target is that we were not shooting for groups. We were just excited to be hitting the target. The rounds that just dented the steel were from the 6.5x284, the ones that went through, obviously the .338. Now i'm out of bullets. Anyone know of anyone in winnipeg who stocks the 500ct boxes of the Sierra 300gn HPBT's? Next time we go out were definatly going to try for groups though!
