Haha, it takes some making up on a thread for a few guys to admit that a 7400-7600 aint a bad gun...
Im marking this on my calendar

C'mon Bones
I'll give you a scenario to explain why the semi auto is held so deer(err dear) out here.
Think of the adrenaline of sitting on your ass listening to hounds get closer, and closer, and closer... listening for crunches in the bush, hoping for a shot. Than the hounds are getting close as hell, and a big deer busts out the bush 100 yards away from you and is coming right at you through thick brush at a full gallop. you can only see glances of it through the trees and he's not 50 yards away... A bit of adrenaline???
He realizes that your there at about 20 yards and tries to break left through a little opening and passing not 10 yards away.
you have a basketball sized target to hit going 15-20 MPH...
Would you like one well placed opportunity, or one well placed opportunity, with a very quick second in the event there was 2 deer, or your deer gets up?... a well tuned semi gets this edge every time. (kep in mind we're party hunting)
This question is answered by the countless numbers of deer taken this way every year, and is a huge part of what makes this type of hunt very very interesting...
For anyone who hunts turkey, you know exactly what Im talking about. Nothing gets you going like a gobbling turkey coming your way... you can hear him getting closer... closer... closer.
by the time he's in front of you, your pumped. The dogs do the same thing for nearly everyone who hunts with them.
I bet you if you tried it even once with success, your opinion would change...
Its a different adrenalne rush when you hear a dog tongueing and its coming at you.
I dont know any good houndsmen personally anymore, and I miss that hunt. The last few times we've had deer infront of dogs was purely by accident, and the hounds(from another group of hunters) ran the deer out of their bush a bit away. we could hear em coming from a mile away.
