I've got this old .410 with some broken plastic. I've used it like this for many years but I'd like to glue it if possible. Does anyone know what kind of glue I can use? I'm not sure what type of plastic it is. signal-2022-08-31-222852_002.jpg

Rapid fix. It’s a 2 part crazy glue. The normal crazy glue and a filler powder. Had a portta power jack go flying landed on my favourite Milwaukee grinder. Broke it clean in half. Held together by the wires. I took it apart into 2 peace’s. I used about 25% of the total amount of glue on. Bent and twisted I couldn’t brake the bond. I put a bunch more glue and filler on it. It’s been good for months now. They stuff is great. Excpecialy if you can build it up a bit on the back. Spread the glue away from the crack 1/4 or more on both sides. Clean it good and if you can scratch it up with a sharp knife. Stuff is amazing. I get it at lordco

Someone on here makes and sells replacement parts. Try whatever glue you have, and if it doesn't work buy a new one. I'll try and remember to look around, but I'm sure someone will chip in and find it before I do.

Edit: quick search found this thread with some good suggestions.

Those are available at Western Gun Parts in Edmonton. BUT! They are for the Cooey 840. You don’t say what make of shotgun it is. My first guess was either a Remington 812 or a CIL 402. Neither of which has a readily available replacement. Best bet would be try some of the glues mentioned.

I repaired an 812 spacer with JB Weld about 20 yrs ago and it is still holding up.
Not all epoxies work with all plastics but the JB worked on this stuff.
Lee Valley's G2 epoxy is pretty tenacious and might work with a filler added.

buckhunter's suggestion looks interesting as well.

Boita /Brazil sold in Canada......next will be the trigger guard and button to open it all plastic.

No, it was a smart way to keep people buying a part that gets heavy use and is prone to breaking.

Western Gun Parts has a metal replacement that will last the life of the gun.

Not for the 812 style shotguns. Only for the 840’s. Trust me - I asked. Picked up two of the 840 style last week. Needed one, but having a spare around seemed like a good idea.

I would try JB weld, it’s surprising what you can do with it. Honestly though if you have some basic hand tools and are mechanically inclined it shouldn’t be hard to make a replacement part out of plastic or metal if you’re really handy.

Find someone that does 3d design and printing. Preferably someone capable of printing with nylon or PC. Get them to give you a copy of the design file, keep it on a labelled drive and if this happens again you will only have to pay to have someone print it not design it.

I had to replace the exact same part on an 812 in 28 gauge. So I just bought another gun of the same model and caliber for parts. Cost me 200$ and it's probably more than you'd like to spend but that way you have replacement parts for the whole shotgun and can keep it going for a long time.
