That's interesting, I would never have guessed 470 chambers would be oversize by such a large measure, although it makes sense when you think about it. I would have done the same as you.
It's not "flawed thinking", it's just learning from an experience or situation that you haven't encountered before. Flawed thinking is when you make the same mistake again because you didn't believe the results the first time.
I think learning these little lessons is normal. When I think I have everything figured out something usually comes along and shoots down that theory. The two most dangerous types of people are the green-as-grass newbie, and the man who knows everything.
