Id be in for a type 81 dependin on avaliability of extra mags and if its NR. the ones in the pic are they the ones you are bring in that might be classed non restricted or do those hae a longer barrel ?

Cheers, McLean

We would bring in tonnes fo spare mags.

Ones in pics have 17.5" bbl, so figure an extra inch

It is an AK-47 variant so.....

Yup. Very clearly an AK variant. We deal with the manufacturer of tose and would have brought those in already if it was possible.

Everyone needs to know that we got the 858 throughout RCMP because no parts are interchangeable with the AK platform and the receivers were built semi auto for the civilian market and are different inside then there full auto select fire cousin the VZ58. There is no way in he'll the RCMP will let this one go through not even the second coming of Christ will change that I'm sure!

So does this mean a no go for the Type 81's then???

no he is talking about a different firearm someone suggested that is an ak variant. they will add an extra inch to the type 81's barrel to make it (hopefully) non-res.

only time will tell what the RCMP say, but there is no reason to be so pessimistic about it big dave.

Like Driller212 said, this comment was about the Polish Mod. 96 Mini-Beryl or Mod. 96 Beryl. See post 42.

??? It has almost no interchangeable parts. The mags aren't even interchangeable according to that write up. It is closer to the CZ 858 than to an AK 47

No, that guy was referring the the polish Beryl rifle.

Judging by the votes the Type 81 will be a go. Mind you it will be a while for the sample to be produced; sent to us, approved, etc.

There is no telling what the RCMP will say but design speaking it is no closer to an AK than the CZ 858. Other than that it has no parts commonality and will be purpose built in semi-auto.
