Why do so many people want the LMG? its quite heavy (11+ lbs) and longer than it needs to be. Not my idea of a fun bush rifle with 5 round mags and semi auto only. I'd rather the regular type 81 with an 18.6" barrel.

Yeah. I think this is the general consensus regarding this rifle. If it's NR, I'm in.

Oh yeah! Type 81 all the way. That thing look sweet! Im sure in less than a years after we got it (if we), it will be a top seller. Ill buy one for sure!!

I want one because it looks very much like a RPK and RPK's are f**king cool.

The type 81 for sure! Any idea on eta if at all?

any updates

Any timeframe on when the Type 81 will be in? I am assuming it will be non-restricted? I need something to waste celebration money on when the registry ends, and as nice as CZ-858s are, it would be nice to be the cool kid on the block for at least a couple weeks!

ETA Q4 2012 at best

The VZ59 fires from open bolt, so that would require a complete rework.

And even if that wasn't the case, I doubt the belts meet the cut-off date for unlimited capacity...

+2

You guys are my hero's. Still havent heard anything regarding classification though, maybe I just missed it.

Any hope for non restricted models being available?.

Nothing to hear yet. Considering they share no parts with any prohibited firearm, they should be allowed in.

Of course, that would require the RCMP to actually use logic when classifying a firearm. They do not have the best track record in this department.

These are much more appealing to me than the SKS, there simply isnt anything else like it that isnt prohibited here, minus the VZ 58, which I do own, but its still not the same animal.

I am very excited about the Type 81, it is number 1 on my list.

900~ might seem steep but looking at what we have available to us in the non-res area i think it'll sell well, especially since it sorta looks like an ak. The csa vz is 900 as well and i think they sold well......i know i got one and will definitely order a t81. As for the practicality of the lmg version....well there probably isnt any but if all of us here were chasing the practicality route, the firearms market would suck. Looking forward to this rifle.

They might be more appealing yes but 900 bucks is still expensive for a chinise rifle if i was going to spend that kind of money i would spend the extra 600 bucks and buy another ar

One might say AR's are ridiculously over priced considering they are restricted firearms "useless and currently doomed to confiscation"

If you can get a non restricted Type 81, its totaly worth the price tag in my opinion, considering only one importer and the rarity of the gun in general.

But to each his own I guess.

why is the old outdated type 81, apparently gonna sell higher than the type 87 was supposed to?

i hope everyone buys one. maybe price will drop w/ larger second order
