FN C1A1 With C1 Sniper Scope - Pictorial

Well, here is a coincidence. The scope in the video, and the scope shown in the photos, are the same one, as per serial number 1419.
The video at the 8:58 point has a still of the scope. The fellow unwrapping the scope in the video sounds/appears to be relatively unfamiliar with the kit.

Good Catch! Small world indeed. Interesting that according to his own words, the former owner paid almost double ($3,000) what I paid ($1,700). Somewhere along the line somebody lost their shirt on a deal!
My scope is Ser. #1484 with the storage can hand numbered at 1350. So if anyone has a can numbered 1484 and needs 1350, let me know and we can swap.
The can numbers were just hand written on the CF label and I'm sure those numbers matching, didn't matter much to the RQ of the units who had these scopes.
I went through Cornwallis with the C1s but never heard of/saw the scopes until later. Turned into a good investment. As the saying goes, I should have bought a dozen of them.

I loved carrying and shooting the FNC1. I loved the weight of it in my hands, and I can still recall the smell of the wooden butt when I was shooting it in the prone position. I spent a good portion of my Military career on the rifle team (PPCLI) and grew to love shooting it. There were a very few things you could do to it to make it shoot a bit better (all within the rules, of course, as indicated in the DCRA rule book). I shot the FN in Bisley in 1985 and 86, and did quite well with it. I won the 500 yard deliberate fire with a 48-50, and 24-25 in the tie shoot. It was a rifle that demanded all of your skill, and you had to be right on top of your mental game while shooting it. I still remember the serial number - 8L3522. I turned it in, in 1987, when we started shooting the C7. This was in 3PPCLI, in Victoria, B.C.. In 1995, while getting ready to go to Connaught Ranges as the Master Coach in 1PPCLI, Calgary, Ab, I walked past a rack full of C1's. BOOM! I couldn't believe my eyes. I reached out and pulled one from the rack..." I know this rifle. It's 8L3522!" One of my troops verified it...I didn't have to look, I knew it was mine as soon as I looked at it. I have to admit, I had tears in my eyes when I found out that they were being used as .22 caliber training rifles with the inserts. She brought back a lot of great shooting memories.

A few years ago, I had to endure settling a family estate...when the dust finally settled, and I had my inheritance, I'd decided I would allow myself exactly one (1) "stupid" luxury purchase. Seeking to maximize value and utility for minimal-ish cost, I finally culled the list down to either a Rolex watch of some sort, or a (super-rare in the States) Canadian Leitz scope. When complete set #1489 showed up, I decided "okay, THAT".
I still need to finish zeroing it, but it is a NICE scope!

That serial number on the 8L is just 24 numbers away from mine.
I used an 8L FNC1A1 on the Airborne rifle team 1982 to 84

time weapons' tech a did a little fine tuning on them within
in the rules. We ( 5 Guys Plus Sgt /WO )
shot every day during the summer .

I used to use my C1A1At the winona range with that sniper scope it was pretty good ..i used to have the name of a guy who used to rebuild them at leizt
He rebuilt them all by scrapping scopes to rebuild other scopes then they were all sold to war assets to be sold iirc i think he said he rebuilt 125 complete units ....i sent him mine for a tune up ...great guy prolly dead mow that was in the early 90s when we could still shoot them

Hey, my 8L is 24 numbers higher than yours, therefore I have seniority. Please send scope to me, lol.
Had my 8L since March 1992...more seniority!, more lol.
