FN C1A1 With C1 Sniper Scope - Pictorial

Only seen these used just once on exercise only. Canadian Airborne Regiment. 1988ish. An airborne raid of Hallowell. A cadet/reserve camp on the Bay of Quinte.
My parachute landing was mere feet from the taxiway!!!
Talk about a tiny drop zone!

Our sniper covered our disembarkment, (he had this rifle and scope to his shoulder) via Hercules air transport on the short runway.

Thanks for the nice pics.

FN C1A1 sniper rifle with Sniper Scope C1 (4) 1024 - Copy.jpg

My C1A1 Sniper. Sadly due to our stupid gun laws I had to have the rifle deactivated :-( but at least it was done very neatly.

He rebuilt them all by scrapping scopes to rebuild other scopes then they were all sold to war assets to be sold iirc i think he said he rebuilt 125 complete units ....i sent him mine for a tune up ...great guy prolly dead mow that was in the early 90s when we could still shoot themView attachment 452697 View attachment 452698 i still have the rifle scope went down south

I was Designated marksman in my Platoon in Airborne 1980 s
I carried the FN C1 A1 with that scope sometimes.
I loved the FN C1 a Great rifle.
Accurate out to 600 yds on rifle team without scope
Airborne !

I owned an 8L C1A1 (dewat) in the early 2000s I never should have sold that one. In spite of being a dewat it was partly strippable and brought back lots of good memories.
I had a scope body and mount but it didn't have any guts. It did look good with the C1. Also had a starlight scope for it. sigh! :(

Hey Bartok awesome posts for sure. I remember lugging a FN C1 back in the late seventies as a militia milcon 77 or 78 around Meaford Ont etc. Fun times, BFA’s lots and lots of blank ammo for us to enjoy:). I kept mine in my sleeping bag at night. A couple of guys left their to the elements overnight, we were all surprised to see surface rust so quickly on them the next morning. Thanks for the memories:) A functioning FAL would be a joy to own, even better to shoot.

I was probably in one of the last basic training classes that used the FN C1's and C2's on course. I remember the C1 I had would easily break open doing stuff like fire and movement, and not particularly going down hard. I also remember the thing would break open after taking a few shots. It was definitely worn out and not fit for active service, and I was just told to deal with it as they were being replaced soon anyway. It was good to get new C7's, but I remember those plastic magazines kept falling out, and always had to hold the rifle by the mag well and magazine so I wouldn't loose it. It took years before the aluminium mags started to be issued.

I used the C1 and C2 in the reserves, then was issued a C7 in the reg force the same year.

I don't have a C1 but I do have a British L1A1 with plastic furniture and a PVS502 to go with it. :) I did use a PVS502 in battle school but by then we were using the C7 so it wasn't weapon mounted.
