FN Scar

FN uses a good cold hammer forged barrel. Don't go about ruining it.

Getting another barrel wouldn't be ruining it. Changing barrels on the SCAR approaches the trivial.
1. Loosen 6 captured bolts with the supplied torque wrench, slide old barrel forward and out.
2. Slide new barrel in and tighten the bolts down to ?63? inch pounds.
3. There is no 3. All done.

Check out the video. It's a pretty cool system. No headspace fiddling etc:

So what prevents the screws from coming loose? and this can not be done by the user "gun ho soldier" since over tightening will damage the gun.

I like AAC Scar copy better for the barrel change

First time in Country needs to get reviewed by RCMP.

Wrong. RCMP has determined that the SCAR 16S may be a converted automatic because of the full auto SCAR's being made by FN.

They want to verify that they are, in fact semi-auto only with new recievers.

Many guns enter the country without an RCMP review.

FN supplies a torque wrench that's perma set to 63 inch pounds with the rifle. If it became a standard infantry rifle (never will) then you'd have to drill into your soldiers to leave the multicaliber system alone,.

Thats actually fairly simple, don't give them the tool to take it appart. On the other hand, that never stopped people before. :D

edit:

I know the SCAR 16s is barelly here, but any word if/when the 17s will be available?

FN SCAR Mark 16 Mod 0 - Prohibited - FRT# 130207
FN SCAR Mark 17 Mod 0 - Prohibited - FRT# 130208

Wait and see what happens with the semi-auto versions.

I wonder what mags the SCAR 17s uses. I wonder if it is the DPMS/Knights pattern. That would be nice to use the new 308pmags in one. Definitely get it rebarreled to 18.5"+ for non res status.

The SCAR folding stock looks like some kid's boot. I'm sorry, I cannot take a firearms that uses children's footwear as a butt-stock seriously.
