What do you guys think of these pistols? i know they have no aftermarket support but I've heard good things about them. Im hoping some of the peoplw that own them chime in and let me know if they have any major issues or quirks. I might be looking to pick one up soon (maybe comp?) to do some target shooting @ 25 yards. Thanks in advance!

One word, awesome.
I owned one, very accurate, great trigger, very reliable, put 2000rds through it, did not disappoint.

Totally ambi friendly so perfect for lefties. The checkering on the polymer grip is very aggressive so a secure grip is just about guaranteed. The mags are metal and high quality. Good enough accuracy and excellent reliability.
You said for target shooting at 25 yds. Bear in mind the FN is not a true target gun. The trigger is Glock-like so if you've not tried one before, you should.
For a cheapish run and gun polymer pistol, however, it's hard to beat!

However, as PE said and you've noted, mags are pricy and hard to find. And there are minimal after market accessories for it.

Love mine, over 3 thousand rounds thru it and I enjoy shooting it every time. Trigger was a bit gritty when new but has broken in very nicely and is much smoother now. I love the way it fits my hand, as Still Alive said the the grip is fantastic, mags although pricey are very solid. It has very nice sights, probably my favourite of any handgun I have shot, the front dot is very easy to pick up. Simple to take down for cleaning, polished feed ramp and the barrel is cold hammer forged. For the price of the gun I don't think you can go wrong.
Site sponsor Solely Canadian makes a very nice kydex holster for it, and although pricey, extra mags aren't too hard to find.
My wife has one also and it is her favorite gun by far

I shot my bud's FNS9L once and I was sold on FNS. Having been born and raised around 1911s, I have never been impressed by polymer pistols. My Glock 17RTF hardly goes to the range with me. But one magazine through the FNS9 got me hooked. Grip angle accuracy, decent trigger and ergonomic ambidextrous controls made this 1911 lover an FNS convert.

So when my bud offered his FNS9L with a total of 7 mags at a price I couldn't refuse, well....

Shortly found 2 almost new FNS40Ls on the EE at great prices as well. Being a fan of the 40 cal, and I cast and reload too, it was a no brainer. In three weeks, I have gone over to the dark side.

I love my FNS9, goes with me most places. Magazines are pricey though and accessories are harder to find.

Buy one of each off the EE and you are still cheaper than a new Glock :)
And you can use the .40 mags in the .9mm for higher capacity,,,,,,,,,,, I have heard :)

I have one with about 2500 rounds through it without issue and very good accuracy. I did find that in my specific example 115 gr shot less well than 124 and 147, not horrible, but it was noticeable, especially when shooting plates at more than 25m. The mag issue is minimal IMO, I have 7 and find them to be very well made and reliable, easy to disassemble and clean - while mags are a training consumable I think that these should wear well, no issue thus far.

While I agree that the grip texturing is aggressive enough, I find it to be poorly placed with no texturing where I really need it (higher up on the grip, back and sides) - I fixed this by wrapping a strip of grip tape on the offending real estate and problem solved. I filled the dot on the front sight in with orange paint and blacked out the dots on the rear with a sharpie - much better, I'm just not a 3 dot kind of guy...

I know this is going to offend the Glockophiles, but I think that the FNS is a better mousetrap, albeit with less factory and aftermarket support. I don't have a copy in .40 but may look for one as I find that caliber easier to reload than the 9...

I just spoke to a firearms store and I heard that theres a difference between the stainless top vs the black top fns9l
Other then the obvious color difference. Is this true?

We are running a 9mm on the range. Round count is 17,000 no problems at all. These are really good quality pistols. Also FWIW we have lots of magazines for them, though as indicated they are more expensive than those for most other pistols.
