FOC creditcard fraud?

Interesting. The day after I placed an order with FOC my card started getting used in Manitoba, and I live in Ontario. At first i thought it was Cabela's or Amazon, both of which I had placed orders with the same day as FOC. Then it happened again with my replacement credit card a week after another FOC order. I did advise FOC and my credit card company. Although the order system at most retailers is secure, there is nothing to keep an employee from photographing the screen with their phone and selling the information. Even Amazon has experienced this. A sad world we live in.

I was reading through this thread yesterday and was thinking "man am I glad I wasn't affected by this". Woke up this morning to texts and emails from my bank about fraudulent transactions. I can't really prove that this was the source, but I haven't made any orders anywhere else.

I also want to mention my experience with FOC. Made an order from them by mistake and contacted them about cancelling the order for which I didn't get a reply. I contacted them about the status of my order and getting my money back 10 days after that and they said that my order had been cancelled and the refund will take 5-10 days from that point to process. I didn't get any refund in that time so I contacted them again over 2 weeks later and my refund was issued on the same day without them saying a word. It took about a month to get my money back. I don't know if they were hoping I would forget about it, but the whole thing seemed very shady.

I'm definitely not going to be ordering from there ever again and I would advise anyone the same.

I've also been hit with this. There is a link between FOC and credit card fraud it would seem.

I purchased a shotgun on October 22nd, as a new customer. I was frauded on November 14th for $649 through two transactions.

Very disappointing, and I'll have to avoid FOC in the future.

I recently bought a scope from FOC (A couple of weeks ago).

I recently got a notification saying that "ecreditcanada" or something of the sort had charged .28 cents to my card.

Quick google search discovered that small charges like that are used by scammers to verify that the card is "good".

I called my CC company and by the time I got through to them, several other charges had been attempted (but were denied by the CC company). Moncton UPS, an e-commerce site, travel vouchers....all within approx 20 minutes.

That card hadnt been used for over a year. My guess - FOC has some security issues.

I had this EXACT same "company" put through a charge on my credit card as well, for the same amount too. FOC purchase related as well.

Interesting. I had my card compromised recently and don't know the cause. They tried to buy airline tickets and $500 at a sushi restaurant. Looking at my statement date of purchase from FOC vs compromise date and it was within 24 hours. First time I have had it compromised that I can remember and I really don't do a lot of random purchases. Made 3 purchases in that week and all were gun related.

SECURITY UPDATE

In October of 2022, we were informed by VISA that there was a security issue on our website resulting in the fraudulent use of credit cards that affected up to 200 clients spanning a four-month period prior. We recognize the severity of this breach and respect your critical right to privacy and confidence in using our platform. Immediate and urgent actions taken have been successful in rectifying this.

A thorough PCI investigation was outsourced to a security firm who conducted a full audit on our website, the scope of which scrutinized our website’s firewall, coding, and remote access and activity logs. The findings revealed a vulnerability in our payment module that had been exploited to allow malware to record credit card information during Checkout.

We want to assure you that, as of 07 Nov, the vulnerability has been patched, and our online security has been upgraded. We have hired a dedicated company that will provide their firewall services to us ongoing, which includes 24/7 monitoring and alerting of potential malicious web activity, and to continually ensure that we are PCI-compliant.

We have been assured that the focus of the malware attack had been on credit card information specifically, and that no other critical personal data points had been targeted.

During this ordeal, many of you have reached out to us and provided personal experiences and information that have aided greatly in achieving resolution. Your collective willingness to offer support despite the exigent circumstances is humbling. To all those affected by fraudulent uses of your credit card, and all who faced the prospect of its exposure, we are abjectly and sincerely sorry.

Your privacy, security, and trust are of utmost importance to us, and its breach is regretful and something we take very seriously. We have taken the lessons learned from this experience and applied them to continue growing and serving you in the future.

So your site was compromised for possibly up to a month after you were notified by Visa of the breach and you continued to operate like business is normal without notifying your client mailing list or posting a big warning here on CGN.

The highlighted words in your statement are truly worthless, thank you for showing your true colours to everyone.

Interesting, I also purchased fro FOC recently and also had someone try to make a few big purchases on my card about 2 weeks later. Immediately caught it and locked the card and reported it but still a pain to have to go through the cancel and reissue card process.

I was about to say the same thing. During a breech, those affected must be notified. I bought mags a few months back, same thing happened to me.
It's worrisome that I learn about this on a forum a month after the fact, instead of doing the proper thing and informing users by email (etc) / suspending services until it was fixed.

Sounds like a lot more than "200" cards were compromised. Would have been nice if they sent an email saying my CC has been compromised when they found out instead of waiting for the ####fest to get this out of hand

They knew their system was compromised and still posted their big fall sale instead of warning everyone.
