Wondering if there is any maker that produces a folding rifle in the 3030. Something like the little badger but a lot better quality. Starting to think this was as would be light and handle especially for amount of shooting a person does while hunting in bush/forest areas

Never seen one, but I'm interested to see if anyone else has. There are a few options for single shots (Henry and cva) but they don't fold and I'm not sure about the CVAs but the Henrys are not light - mine is like 7lb without a scope.

I've never seen a folder in 3030, and most single shots I've seen are actually pretty heavy.

Maybe a Model 94 or a Savage 340 fits the bill for you? Millions of hunters for generations have killed millions of deer just fine and with a quick and light Model 94

Folding part so fits in backpack(Iam using eberlestock x1a) so 16” barrel with peeps. Also a scope rail would be a must also so able to mount a light scope such as leupold 2.5 compact or a 1-4. Try keep wight down for 4 lbs for bare rifle. This could be done on day a 20guage ( as lot over under rifles made) frame or possibly a 410 frame

Too bad nobody makes a folding 12ga with factory 12" barrel. Just get a pack of inserts for different calibers. (Chiappa I think makes a set of 6 or 8 different inserts to convert a single shot 12 guage into a single shot 9mm, 357mag, etc or other ammo types. I thought 30-30 was one of the inserts.....) I'd but that shotgun. Full buttstock and 12-14"barrel. Fold in half multicaliber for what-have-you

If you want to put it in a backpack there are lots of takedown euro rifles around. None in 30/30 I would imagine though. CVA makes takedowns; otherwise get your wallet ready

Lots of small Italian makers making cool folding guns; but again none in 30/30

Savage 219s take down. Come in 30/30 too

Corwin arms used to bring in short barrelled single shot folders pretty regularly

OPs requirements basically put it in the realm of fantasy but some kipplaufs are ~5lb with 20 inch barrels. Don’t know why you want a short barrel folder when you could takedown into a similar sized package

Even a 94 is only 1 screw to remove the stock. You could easily make a thumb screw or bubba a aftermarket stock to be folding. Avoid model 340’s like the plague

Must be foldable as I probably have all the rest as single
Sot takedown in baikal, h&r, Rossi, tc encore and contender and other over/under takedown rifles
Yes it might be a fantasy but it would be handle. Could even go to 20” brl to satisfy others and still fit in my pack

Why is a folding gun “ handier” than a takedown? Lots of brands you didn’t mention that weigh a whole lot less than those listed, will lighten your wallet too unfortunately

I emailed the first company and they do not have a Canadian distributor; never tried the second but that’s probably the closest you will ever get to the dream gun

With eberlstock pack I have it has scabbard on outside of pack. It is easier to get gun out and put a shell in and close and use it. It takes less time than putting one together. And fits same length of pack as compared to having a complete gun for length.

Seems like a realistic 'want'
wondering if a GS couldn't make a latch of sorts for a single shot so it folded completely
take the foreend off many and they hinge to come apart, seems possible to modify slightly so they stayed together when folded, likely with out the forend maybe.
folding 410 with a 30-30 liner.........hhmmm

Was also thinking about foldable shotgun with possibly barrel liner. I can’t remember but mca might make an adapter that’s in 3030 but have to check again as I have a 22 hornet for 12 g

The CVAs are pretty chunky too. It's all barrel, and they certainly didn't skimp on it! Although I've not tried a shorty, I imagine the Scout Takedown with a short barrel would be super easy to pack.

FAIR K500 6.06 lbs

Krieghoff Hubertus 6.5 lbs

It’s not all henrys, CVA and Baikal…

If you want a folder they are popular in Italy, my Italian is limited but apparently it’s so that they can be put into the big pocket of a coat traditionally worn by trackers so they have their hands free for dog handling. The companies I posted are a few of many small Italian makers; would definitely be interested in some other links.

Still don’t understand how a folder could be “ fast to deploy” or not take up a lot of room with a scope on it, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

A 30/30 adaptor in a Turk single shot seems like a trip to the ER waiting to happen; check out the warnings on this one, not exactly confidence inspiring

Not sure if this may be of interest, but a run of the Googler produced a Thonpson Center with folding stock. That rig could be configured as you have described, in about and calibre ever made. Could be worth looking into?

I'd have such a hard time choosing a cartridge for this gun. Be short range, so maybe .444. I'm a huge 45/70 fan, but it doesn't seem right. Maybe .35 or .400 Whelen?

The TC is an ugly gun anyways, might as well lean into it. I like the folder

The multi leaf express sight, fibre optic front and muzzle break are just a cherry on top for the insanity
