Hi all,
With all these hot 10/22's I'm seeing lately I've decided to take the plunge again...
I just wanted to know what a standard 10/22 with the Butler Creek Folding stock (folded) Overall Length is in order to make some shopping decisions.
Thanks in advance.
Ok... just got off the phone now with some techie at Ottawa... get ready for the SHOCK of the year!!!
Anyone who owns a Folding stock on a 10/22 (or any other firearm) has a Restricted 10/22 regardless of length. Did you get that? Folding Stock on Non-Restricted firearm = Instant restricted firearm.
So... I told her that for decades people have had folding stocks on non-retricted rifles (not just the 10/22)... she chuckles and says "Well... it's up to whoever is interpretting the law at the time, but I am telling you today that the official word is Folding Stock = Restricted firearm."
I don't know if this is an ottawa thing, but it's pretty nutz.
I didn't ask but maybe it is just for aftermarket folding stocks? Because I know the Non-Restricted SIGS come with folding stocks, correct?
Anyway, some craziness for sure.
By the way I was transferred 3 times and on hold for 30+minutes to get this "ruling."
this flash hider thing throws back years to when the m1 carbine was being defined- the final ruling was that the flash hider DOES NOT contibute to barrel length , and the barrel must one countious unit( ie one piece)
