Hogwash. Every reference table i just looked at has 12 gauge bores at 18.5mm. EXTREME overbores can get up to 20mm. Is the CSSA suggesting the portion threaded at the end of the barrel for the choke insertion (which would be slightly larger) is the 'bore' for measurement purposes?

I'm all for being cautious. But really?
 
A lot of sensitive people here concerned their beloved Elmer special might be caught up in the nonsense too. How does it feel to be an outlaw like the rest of us? Still don't think it effects you?

I think this is a great point to push, whether a judge would ultimately agree or not, it gets the apathetic gun owner off the couch and into the fight.
 
To all who say measuring the threads is ludicrous, RCMP officers still do not universally agree on if barrel length involves the chamber or starts at the end of it. Logically you are right the threads should not count, but what part of any of these regulations/prohibitions is logical? They will never take your hunting Firearms, but the will take your sniper rifles and big bore cannons.
 
What’s CSSA’s end game to put a damper on all the hunter’s as well? This legal opinion is just that an opinion. If the 12 guage was meant to be prohib they wld have been named by law. Is this the best tactic the CSSA can find? Ridiculous... and no I am not a Fudd I own new prohibs already. I don’t appreciate the CSSA trying to say I own more...
 
Nowhere in the legislation does it say “nominal bore diameter” (which would have cleared it up). The maximum bore diameter of my Remington 12 ga is 20.77mm (measured with a vernier. So the Liberals poorly written legislation just made my your goose gun prohib. Whether it was intentional or not is irrelevant. Congrats duck hunters! We’re all in the same sinking ship now.

Or polarizes the community and destroys our credibility. You aren’t going to gain any more support by scaring additional gun owners.

Its perfectly safe. You'll #### up the threads inside the barrel, but its not UNSAFE to shoot.

That said, I'm not going to stop using my shotguns. If someone wants to try and arrest me over this, I'll deal with that when the time comes.

lots of butthurt in here. Hope all the shotguns get the ban. Especially the semi's and pumps. All we need are break action over unders TBH.
 
By legal definition where does the bore end and the muzzle start? one could argue the end of the barrel is in fact not defined as the bore, but defined as the firearms muzzle. The OIC does not mention a ban on a 20mm or larger muzzle diameter.

Polarizes?!? How about unifies. We are all affected by this, it's just that some of us haven't got the memo yet. This shotgun angle might finally get ALL gun owners on the same page.
