For Immediate Release! CSAAA- Shotgun ban!!

By legal definition where does the bore end and the muzzle start? one could argue the end of the barrel is in fact not defined as the bore, but defined as the firearms muzzle. The OIC does not mention a ban on a 20mm or larger muzzle diameter.

If the muzzle starts lets say an inch back then all the semi auto shotguns with 18.5" barrels are now 17.5" making them prohib. Could also argue that we just modified the pump guns to be too short as well.

Polarizes?!? How about unifies. We are all affected by this, it's just that some of us haven't got the memo yet. This shotgun angle might finally get ALL gun owners on the same page.

Fudds gonna fudd. They will just deny deny deny and then say "well I didnt need my big scary 12ga after all, I can just use a 20ga" until those are banned and so on. They're not reliable and they're not taking this seriously.

There are some out there who may be passing off this situation as being an inconvenience or perhaps even a bit silly. Whether or not you think this is silly is irrelevant. The sad reality is the INTENT behind this OIC. The present PM and his party are INTENT on taking away our rights and property...This is the clear danger to us all in this situation. Are you willing to write any part of this off as something silly that will just go away? No matter how clumsy or inept this OIC may be perceived, the INTENT behind it is very clear....And that (at least to me) is nothing to laugh at.

Ed's legal brief says:

"The Bore is the largest diameter of the tube of the barrel through which the projectile travels"

I highly doubt this (shotgun techinicality) is an issue any Conservation Officer or even police will be enforcing or give a sh!t about, what an absolute joke.

I took my 590 with removable choke out trap shooting last Sunday, will continue to do so regardless of this

This is good news. Hunters and sport shooters all thought they weren't going to be affected by this, now they are. Now everyone with a PAL is on the same side.

Bore is the inner, chokes don't make difference. If I have a deep match crow cut into my .357 mag does that change it to a .44mag?!?!

All misunderstanding but this can be a good thing and our firearm rights groups can hopefully have their legal teams use it against them and show how little they actually know and how stupid this is

Also if all else fails simply epoxy a tube in and then boom it's permanent

You can do as you wish but it looks like you are breaking the law when doing so.

Someone needs to be willing to get charged with possession of a prohib device (their shotgun) at their local police station in front of the media. We need to illustrate the absurdity of the OiC.

A lot of sensitive people here concerned their beloved Elmer special might be caught up in the nonsense too. How does it feel to be an outlaw like the rest of us? Still don't think it effects you?

I think this is a great point to push, whether a judge would ultimately agree or not, it gets the apathetic gun owner off the couch and into the fight.

I hope it is true. I will gladly toss a couple 12 gage on the pile if it gets those in the hunting world who have said this doesn't apply to them to get on the wagon.

Csaaa.org looks like it was suspended.

The whole intention of all this firearms law, is to get rid of private firearm ownership. Period. The bird hunters and the guys who went out into the field once a year thought they were safe. This just points out that as long as they are using a firearm THEY are a target as well. The anti gun coalition doesnt give a damn what you use it for, a gun is a gun and needs to go!

About time we started working together.

I know lawyers are paid to argue, but it is right there in the legislation!!

We will all be victims of this disarmament agenda eventually. The wider the impact now, the more people can get on the same page and get in the fight!

I just wrote a tip to CTV. This is what I wrote hopefully they will respond.

Hi, I was just looking into the new firearms ban and Minister Bill Blair stated that the new OIC to ban 1500 brand and models of rifles and any firearm that has more than 10,000 joules of energy and firearms with a bore diameter more than 20mm will not affect hunters. However one of the most popular shotguns in North America, the 12 gauge shotgun used every where for duck, goose, turkey, bear and deer hunting has a bore diameter of about 20.5mm when a removable choke is removed. Therefore their (the LPC) comment that this ban will not affect hunters in Canada is a total lie. I would like clarification on this as I can no longer turkey or bear hunt this spring as that is the only shotgun I own. I appreciate CTV and all your hard work into investigating matters of this sort. I just don’t want to be a legal victim that gets to be made an example of by this poorly thought out OIC.
