For Moose--.338 Win Mag or .375 H&H?

Yeah, but you needed the sled to pick up chicks so it was worth it:D

Is that how it works? I bought a 416 Rigby so that I could tell them I had a "Big Gun". It did not have the desired effect.

Are you insinuating that I would have a better shot with the gals if I had a helmet on covering my face? BASTARD!!!

Moose are what you use your biggest guns for. Thats why we have big guns. Either will work fine, they're certainly not too big. NO such thing as too big.

Certainly not too big [No such thing, as noted] but really unnecessary for moose. Moose are not hard to kill. The 375 makes less damage than most of the smaller numbers though. Regards, Eagleye.

Too much gun means being able to shoot through the tree that's blocking that perfect broadside shot and enjoying filet moose.

Well, back in the day they used to shoot lot's of moose with 30-30's. then mooses somehow started to get bigger and meaner so you needed something in the 30-06 class. Then as time progressed you had to use a 7mm or 300 magnum. Nowadays even a .338 is on the light side so I'd suggest a larger caliber Magnum, or better yet a 50 caliber BMG, or perhaps a field cannon.

Soon enough young fella, in about 10 to 15 years the only cartridge that will make a moose surrender is the megre 700 nitro. Then it will be as easy as wax on, and wax off.

Is there a wrong selection between them?
I like both, I like to carry mt 338 T-3 over the 700 less 3-4 Lbs.
I found this out real quick while elk hunting the North River south of the Alberta boarder.

Now come on boys, even the .338 is too big for moose. Over in Quebec they use them for elephants.

Seriously though, put a hole through the heart/lungs, moose die. Within reason, it does not matter what you use. My bull moose went down to my .44 mag this year. Now as much respect as I have for the .44, even out of a rifle it does not come close to the .338 or .375. My father has put every animal I have seen him shoot with one shot out of a .270.

Vital hit, equals dead moose.
