For my new X95 ?

That might be hard to do as a lot are out of stock, but I will have a look around. I have slight Amblyopia (Lazy Eye) So only 80% vision in my right eye. Hence why I shoot left handed. Dominate eye is Left. I'm curious who would have such optics to actually try in the southern Ontario are?

I actually don't think I would have such a problem with any of these optics, as I haven't ever noticed any issues with it in my life for anything else. Plus these optics are meant to keep both eyes open. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Tenda has a good selection of Eotechs in stock. Bullseye in London has the Vortex and FOC has the Mepro, though I'd stay away from FOC.

Interesting. I'm assuming you love the optic then. Do you have the green or red? Anything you don't like about it?

I have the red one, though I have no eye issues so I'm not sure how it can affect those who do. I am right handed and left eye dominant so having the holo sight is a life saver for me. I do like the fact that I can install and remove the magnifier quickly when needed.

The EXPS2-2 also has two dots, one for 50-200yards and one for 500 yards, makes for easy target acquisition at longer distances. And yes, the X95 can reach out to 500yards on a man sized target rather easily. (With enough practice/training of course)

Before I sold my X95 I switched to the thin buttplate and pistol grip, and would recommend both. Both are factory IWI and both are in the $40-$60 range so won’t break the bank.

Cutlass vs pistol grip: The IDF use both interchangeably but rumour has it they’re moving toward the pistol grip and away from the cutlass. Some reports from the field say the cutlass has a (small) potential design flaw that allows the strong hand to slide up behind the trigger, whereas the pistol grip prevents this by allowing the middle finger to butt up against the trigger guard like on an AR.

It’s never happened to me with the cutlass’ed X95, TAR-21 or Tavor 7, so I don’t see it as a big problem, but apparently it can happen. These pics are from a user on Firearm Blog who illustrates this. Try it first and if it’s not a problem, don’t worry about it.

I'd call it more than a "small, potential flaw". I'd call it a real and obvious flaw. It was the very first thing I noticed about the X95 when I got one. I always had a high hold on my AR15's and the first time I tried my X95 my second finger ended up nearly behind the trigger. It is both annoying and uncomfortable to use. I have ordered a pistol grip, which is thankfully not overly expensive.

Just picked up a X95 and was looking for some insight. I usually just shot my AR with iron sights here and there over all the years in my firearm journey, so I'm not the most experienced with black rifles. If I shoot, it's handguns, but mostly I just collect.

So what I got so far is a left handed bolt. (I'm a lefty) A bunch of 5/30 PMags.

If you haven't done it yet the conversion to LH is a giant PIA. It has a ton of steps, some of which are silly or counterintuitive and actually requires the barrel to be removed, which is also a PIA and requires a special tool.

In the end I did not pull the barrel and so have left the charge handle on the left side. To me that's not the end of the world but it can be a bit fiddly when trying to activate the bolt hold open.

For some reason my X95 won't cycle some types of ammo with 2nd Gen PMags. It works best w metal mags or a 3rd gen PMag. I tried a half dozen different 2nd get pmags and the problem persisted w all of them.

Actually I just converted the rifle to left handed this afternoon, and yes it was a PIA. I have the barrel wrench so I took the barrel off and I changed the charging handle. Rifle feels good now that it's changed for me. It was surprisingly difficult to find video's on how to convert it. I had to watch 3-4 different video's to get a handle on converting the rifle. Lucky for me I have no Gen 2 pmags. Going to head on to the range tonight and see if I can zero the rifle in with the iron sights.

I misinterpreted the function of the barrel pin lock and pushed it the wrong way fairly hard. Its possible I damaged it. :( The barrel locking pin is available for a reasonable cost so if I ever get around to removing the barrel I may just replace that pin.

The fact the barrel has to be removed to swap the charge handle is ridiculous. All they needed to do was add two holes to the plastic plate behind the barrel and swapping the charge handle would be simple and easy.

The other part that threw me for a loop for a bit was the roll pin inside the bolt carrier that has to be removed and swapped sides in order to install the LH bolt into the carrier. That seems silly to me. It could not have been THAT difficult to design the carrier and bolt so they worked together without that stupid pin.

My rifle's iron sights were dead on but holy crap is the front sight way off to one side ... which is slightly disconcerting. I have since zero'd an LVPO on the rifle so not certain why the front sight is way off to one side, but whatever the reason, it doesn't seem to have caused any issues.

That sucks you damaged it. I read about all the damage that can get caused so I was very careful. It was not a nice project but now I'm much more confident that I did it, although I was stuck a few times as to what to do. As for the iron sights, I just came from the range and they were off. I have to learn more about the adjusting the AR style iron sight. The one picture is from 25yards standing. Grouping is ok (ok for me anyways) but I was aiming for the bottom left target meaning the bottom right in the photo and hitting the center.

The rifle shot a lot nicer then my AR. Noticeable lack of recoil.

Decided on the Mepro RDS Pro V2 for various reasons. Going to keep the IDF theme for the rifle. It's simple, rugged and proven. Hopefully I will pick up the magnifier for it soon also. The flip up iron sights co-witness with the optics naturally also. Looking forward to trying it out.

Finally got my Meprolight RDS Pro v2 with the Meprolight MX3 Magnifier. Looking forward to trying it at the range this Friday hopefully.

The holographic isn't perfect with my stigmatism but still perfectly functional. I see some visual artificating (like a slight starburst coming out of the center dot). Slightly seeing a double of the outer ring ever so slightly (slight ghosting of the ring). This mostly happens in the dim light only. Clear bright daylight the green dot and ring are basically clear.

So happy I went with the IWI theme for the rifle. So far I'm really happy with the sight and magnifier.

Only negative so far it the weight of the magnifier.

Also I got myself the FAB Defense, T-POD G2 - Rotating Tactical Foregrip & Bipod for the range. The foregrip adds some weight to the rifle especially with the magnifier. Probably not something I would use/carry with regards if I was carrying the rifle around in the bush for example.View attachment 658143View attachment 658141View attachment 658139View attachment 658144

EOtech have the lowest battery life of all. More of a range toy or equipment designed for LEO and the millitary where batteries are a non issue imo. An EOtech would be shelved to collect dust pretty fast in a war or shtf scenario.

Eotech a range toy? Lmao. It has the least parallax of any optic on earth and has by far the best performance with Nods. No optic comes close.

You better have a bunch of batteries in your stack when the grid goes down. I'm sure it's great otherwise.
