Forearm glued to the barrels on a Over under?

It depends on how you want to look at it and what their business practices are. Maybe they don't treat everyone the same. All I know is it cost me $65.00 for a gun that was defective before they put it in the box. I emailed them about the issues just to make them aware there were problems. I said I could look at it as maybe it wouldn't take much to rectify. They said no, send it back for a full refund. I got a refund but cost me $65.00 for shipping. Sure you can use the analogy of you didn't have to drive there. But it really comes down to how do you want to operate your business. They are doing online sales in hopes of getting customers they normally wouldn't get. I was a repeat customer of several times and I certainly don't think that was good business practice to be treated like that, especially when they didn't know the real condition of the product they were selling. I can give you the details of a US business that my wife did business with in December. They made a mistake and they bent over backwards to make it right, far beyond what we were expecting. They gave us a full refund on our first order, redid the order for free and sent it in 4 days from Florida by Fedeex Plus they gave us a coupon for 20% off if we ordered anything again. So I guess it depends on how you want to look at it and how one wants to run a business.

I have also made multiple purchases from Tradex. One of the used firearms I purchased had an issue with the stock. I emailed them and they asked me to ship it back. Before they received my package, they sent me a new gun in return for what I paid the used gun. I didn’t ask them to do that, they offered to do it.

As I said, I guess they don't treat everyone the same depending on who is handling the return. In my case, I was not snooty, I didn't demand anything and I did what was asked. But I know for a fact I am not alone in being unhappy with how a return was handled. But, learn and move on.

The owner handled my return. Other than that, I don’t know what else I can say. Having to pay shipping back is no doubt a bummer. I know the return policy is clearly posted on their site. I guess if a prospective buyer doesn’t want to accept their terms or is unsure of placing an order for a used item, they always have the ability to call the retailer and speak with them directly about the item in question. That way they know exactly what to expect before placing the order. At least there is a better chance that someone can be held accountable for any undisclosed issues.

In the past, I didn't have any problems so what bothered me was the fact that I bought a rifle from them in good faith going by the description they posted. The rifle was absolutely useless out of the box. It was all I could do to cycle the bolt with one hand with the other hand on the end of the forearm applying back pressure. It was that hard to cycle. Plus the gun had double set triggers and they didn't work. Could have been related to the bolt issue, I don't know. In this case, it was clearly a gun that was not at all described accurately and was defective to the point of useless as it was. It should not have been sold unless listed as a project gun at a much lower price. But, I will say I never saw it relisted after being returned.
I have still dealt with them since then. But any gun I buy now is one where I am looking for a project and know the gun will need work so there are no surprises.

I’ll agree that if a gun needs to be returned because of a false or an incorrect description, then the shipping cost should be paid by the offending party.

They have a high volume, low mark up business model. Want all the bells and whistles, buy from a different retailer.

Jeez guys, we usually agree on everything.;)

If the product is defective, not as advertised or in unsafe condition, a professional retailer would cover the cost to return the product.

LOL

I highlighted and underlined the important part. LOL

Slim margins, high volume, lower grade, used products equals crap slips through. Don't like it? Pay more for quality and service.

I'm always amazed by people who don't get this. Money doesn't appear by magic. Tough to have your cake and eat it too.

If it is glue, with most glues wood and steel don't bond that well... but I doubt it is glue... probably epoxy.

It is quite possible a previous owner used a bit of epoxy to tighten up a loose fit... just like glass bedding rifle... but did not use enough release agent over enough area... then when he couldn't remove the forend got rid of the shotgun.

If it is epoxy - the forend will most likely get damaged in removal. I would bite the bullet and return it... and try and get half of your postage back... get out while you can or take a chance you will need to purchase a new forend in the future. O/U's do require barrel removal occasionally.

Given how Gunsaholic treated, I won't be having any of that cake. I'm always amazed by sponsors who don't get this. Can't take the time to check for glued fore-ends but still list quality as good? Be prepared to email a return shipping label to your customers and refund in full, or find yourself a topic in a thread like this.

I find it hard to believe that a dealer who sells and ships such a large number of break action shotguns would not realize that shorter packages are easier and safer to ship.

Rest assured that if any of you ever buy a gun from me it will be taken apart if possible and very well padded.

Amen Bob. Really, there should be no other way. I've had break action guns shipped to me just once that had damage. Guess what? Not broken down.

Everything Tradeex ships out is double boxed and packed well. They ship a box inside a box. If you buy multiple firearms, each firearm will be in its own box and then those boxes are combined into a single larger box. Great packing in my opinion

Mine were always packed very well too. I’m not trying to pump them up or anything, just relating my experiences.

I guess I accept the risk because the prices are so cheap. I had one go back and another was a super deal, so I’m a happy customer.

hahaha. I don't think the margins are that slim.

Shipping a gun that trips the sear when the stock is bumped and describing it as in "very good" condition is, well........

No thanks, none of that moldy cake for me either.
