Forget the GSG-5......Take a look at what one guy did!!

The problem with these conversions is the lack of readily available airsoft parts in Canada and the inability to import them.

True! I doubt anyone here wants to make one out of the Walmart Clear copies of the airsoft guns you can buy there. You have to admit though, it would be different! LOL!!

Just make sure that the original serial number of the host firearm (the 10/22) is visible when it's assembled.

NS

You could also stamp the serial number again on a visible area. Leaving the original in place of course.

The firearms act has provisions for stamping the number from their "stick on" ID numbers onto a gun so I don't see why a duplicate serial number on the gun would be any different, as long as the serial number is not changed.

No.

The ruling I have (in writing) from the RCMP is that the original host firearm's serial number must be visible.

Period.

Hence the slot visible on the left side of this gun's pseudo-receiver.

I did very little machining on this work of art. A friend of mine did pretty much all of it. (At the time, I was running a Sherline mini-mill/lathe. Not really much good for this stuff.)

Some pics from the build process:

Some items of note on the project,

The rifle is capable of being returned to it's original stock, with the only part needing replacement being the trigger.

The barrel length remained the full factory length.

OAL is greater than 26.5".

Project assembly time was approximately a year.

This one I really like... details?

Looks like a FAMAE....;)

P.S. - I thought the serial just couldn't be defaced, why can't it have something over it, as long as it can be uncovered?

Serial numbers being readily visible is likely just for expediency, or conflict avoidance/minimization....:)

No details to report yet. I stll have to make the parts to hold it all together. I got an idea of how I want to do it, but I have not started to make it yet. Basically it's going to be a steel shell shaped like an MP5. (A real MP5 is basically a stamped steel flat.) What you see in the pic is a POF made MP5foregrip, stock and HK94 grip. The barrel is 8.5" from fabsports.

POF?

Pakistan Ordnance Factories

If someone comes up with a design, we can supply the MP5 bits.

A " receiver" of plastic or aluminum would be simple to produce.
