Form6 app process changes

Rejected again! This time because I did not mention the address that my reloads were manufactured at. This is the first time in 12 years of applying for a Form 6NIA that the process is so screwed up because BATF never asked these items to be included before!

Had the same issue with the same guy, Had the manufacturer and state listed for firearms ie Remington Illion NY USA and for ammunition had " handloads by applicant " same as for the last 20 years. He requested the address of the manufacturer of the ammunition..........

I guess I will get rejected for that too!

Was at a match in US today and other Canadian shooters were missing because their Form 6's are held up some waiting 7 weeks so far. Mine is in the pile.

Just add your name and address as the Mfg. Of the reloaded ammo.

So I'm filling out a Form 6NIA (5330.3D) - having not done this for a few years - line 12 is "Are you being admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa?", and my reading of item 1. in the Instruction Sheet says "no", since Canadians don't need any type of a visa. So that means skipping to line 15, and that I don't need a hunting licence or invitation to a match or trade show to have the Form 6NIA approved.

Is that right?

Although you don’t need it for the Form 6…it is a good idea to have a hunting license from the state you’re visiting

They aren’t terribly expensive and provides some cover when local LEOs don’t know the law

Hunting license doesn't have to be from the state you go to, North Dakota and Alaska had cheapest small game licenses in the past.

You don’t need a hunting license at all

It’s just to appease an LEO who may not know any better. If that is the case, it’s best not to have an Alaskan hunting license while driving around with guns in NH

WA State law as an example requires ether hunting license from any state or invitation:
RCW 9.41.175 (2)
That’s interesting and seems to resemble the ATFs prior interpretations of what is required for Canadians to possess firearms in the US.

Several years ago, the DoJ and ATF jointly determined that those requirements only apply when a visitor requires a VISA to enter

I bet WA just hasn’t updated state law to be in concordance with federal law.

I think you’ve made an important distinction here. Always have to consider state and local law even if everything is good federally.

Maryland for example only allows ARs with a heavy barrel. So, careful if you’re shooting matches there
