Found BX-25 ruger mags

I just looked at some old pics of the BX25 packaging...the UPC code seems to be the same...but the references to the Charger 22 pistol have been removed (they were there on the old packs).

Well this IS interesting. I just spoke with my contact in exports at Ruger and this is the first she has heard of BX-25s with no Charger mention on the packaging and instructions. As far as she knows they are still prohib.

She'll hopefully email me back in a couple of days with more info from her supervisor.

This has happened before from a gun store. I remember the thread was some time ago. When someone called the RCMP to ask they stated the mags were still prohib and not sure how or why they were being sold by a dealer.

Makes sense only because it doesn't. Somebody ships a bunch of different 10/22 mags not realizing that even though they do the same thing.... One is prohibited !

So..........if they still fit in the charger they wont have the mag limits then?

The mag limits have nothing to do with what the mag will fit in, they are based solely on what firearm the mag was designed to be used in.

Fawk me, I am so jazzed that there's a brand name Ruger 25 round mag that we can get now. Them Butler Creek ones are just "OK". :D

I wouldn't get your hopes up, see below:

I seem to recall this as well. I wouldn't be buying these mags until all was cleared up and confirmed with the RCMP.

Tactical innovations make a good mag for the 1022 (called TI25) comes in aluminum or some kind of resin fiber. Fully able to take them apart and wash them down when they start giving you problems around $50 to $80 though but in my eyes worth it. I have 3 of the resin ones they work great in my SR22!!

Damn man - I'm so confused. You can get the Butler Creek 25'ers off the shelf - isn't this just a higher quality version of the same product?

No. Initially Ruger advertised it as being designed for both the 10/22 and Charger pistol. The RCMP then decreed that made it a pistol mag and applied the 10 round limit to it. Unless the RCMP rescind their decision the BX-25 mags are limited to 10 rounds and are considered prohibited unless pinned appropriately.

The Butler Creek mags have always been advertised as being for the 10/22 only, hence it is considered a rifle mag and has no capacity limits placed on it. Yes, our laws are retarded.

From Rugers website:

This genuine Ruger® factory magazine with Ruger® logo has been tested and has proven to feed as reliably as the standard BX-1™ 10-round Ruger® rotary magazine. BX-25® magazines will work with any factory original Ruger® 10/22® rifle, SR-22® rifle, and 22 Charger™ pistol.

I called the Bass Pro Shop in Calgary on Tuesday August 20/2013 @6pm. The guy I talked to at the gun counter said he had not seen them and had personally been looking for them for his 10/22.

Saw these at a gunshop in Ohio during a recent trip south. I can confirm that the packaging specifically says that the mag will fit the M77 hawkeye, 10-22, &SR22 rifles. There is zero mention of the charger pistol on the package.
