Found BX-25 ruger mags

the aluminum ones are crap.
i picked up 2 and they are garbage.
ive sanded down the paint and tried to tune them like the packaging says.... still crap.
they live in the back of my gun parts bin in the shop.
$160 lesson.
infact i have had no luck at all with anything from TI working well.
nor have i heard from anyone that i know that has had a good experience with any of their products.
they are officially on my never to buy from again list.
and that list is short.
just them on it so far, so you can see im pretty easy!

I never had any luck with them either.
I never really had any issues with my BC Steel Lips so I really dont get what all the fuss is about.

Well, if you were able to buy one, you'd now be in possession of a prohibited device. Maybe for the best they're gone.

I spoke with a Ruger executive during SHOT in January about the BX-25
Basically he said that they are aware of the mistake they made by adding the Charger reference on the packaging which has essentially robbed themselves of selling the mags on the Cdn Market.
I then asked if they are planning to consider relabeling the packaging and try to appeal the ruling.
He said thay they may look at changing the label however the whole issue was discussed at board meetings with the company's legal team. Apparently they were very hesitant to challenge the RCMP/CBSA on the appeal because they essentially want to stay on good terms with authorities to protect other product exportation or any other future permit requests. Sounds like the RCMP plays politics at the higher levels.
The way he explained it was essentially that they didn't want to poke the lion and get on their bad side.
By the looks of this though, they have obviously re-labeled the packaging and perhaps this was done after approval from the RCMP. Or it could simply be that the guy responsible for ordering new stuff at the Bass Pro wasn't aware of the ruling, and the distributor down in the states that fulfilled stock orders wasn't aware either (could make sense, it is an american company after all) Then the magazines came in amongst a big shipment of stock and was missed by the CBSA. I'm hoping it is the former.
At least it proves that they followed through with plans to remove the Charger reference from packaging.

I read so many bad reviews about the BX-25 magazines that I would not even be eager to get any if they were legal.
Tactical Innovations TI-25 or the new HC3R are both excellent magazines and you are probably better off IMO.

Not in my experience...I've run them quite a bit down south and they work great (as do the pinned 10 rounders I've seen up here)...much better than Butler Creeks. I've also used the TI aluminum mags (up here) and haven't had an issue with them but they are quite a bit more expensive. I haven't used the HC3R's so can't comment on them.
If you'd like to legally try out the Ruger BX-25s, go to the 10/22 mag rental counter at Calgary Shooting Centre and ask for them. They're in a box behind the counter. Apparently gun ranges/shops are immune from prosecution -- especially those that host the police and sheriff depts.
The one mag I sampled there was flawless with my 10/22s.
The RCMP decision on the BX-25s is ludicrous because the Butler Creek, TI25s and HC3Rs will almost certainly ALL fit the Ruger Charger.

What is so hard to understand here?
It isn't about what gun it will fit in FFS!!!
It only matters what gun the magazine was designed/made for and in this case this magazine is designed and made for the Charger, among others.
We benefit with the Lar 15, and XCR Pistol mags, so it works both ways.
Our gun laws warrant a Turbo Facepalm. The practicality of the rule is MIA!
I would love to hear if this new packaging and possible acceptance (thank you ceriksson for that post) ever does come through. Here's hoping, fellas!
