Finally complete! I'm looking for some opinions on the scope height. To me it looks like it is sitting way higher than it needs to or should. What do you guys think? Should I arrange to get some shorter rings from US Optics???

For me personally that is high, I agree, I would get lower rings. But man that looks out of this world. Congrats JNG very very nice!

That is a thing of beauty and those SN3's look great as they sit. Remeber you have an adjustable cheek piece with that A-5 and your going long with those rifles over 1KM so myself I would leave all as it sits. Can't waite for the range report.
I wish I was going long! I live in Ontario so most of my shooting will be 300yds or less.
Since I will be shooting 50-300yds I think a scope sitting that high might not be the best way to go. I agree at 800+ yards that height would not be an issue at all...

They look high, but you should try the rifle out before making a decision. You may prefer the scope's current position.
Yes. I used a Gaillard barrel in my last competition, and it was shooting a 1/2MOA vertical at 1000 yards.

I agree with Terry you should get behind the rifle before making any assumptions.
If the rifle fits you well, once you get the cheekrest in the proper position and it feels good what does it matter if there is an extra mm or so between the objective lens and the barrel?

First off, congrats on your rifle you should be a very proud owner of that piece of art! I saw the parts to yours when I was dropping off the parts to mine. I still have a lot of waiting but man its worth it by the looks of things here.
I just mounted a larger Nightforce scope on my HS Precision. It is sitting a touch heigher than I would like. Its about .150 to .200" higher than I would like, and I could safely drop it .150". However, after being behind the rifle I'm finding it easier to get my cheek weld constant from how I had things set up before.
Take your blaster out and shoot it for a while in many different positions. See how it does and how you do. If after that you find its not to your liking then change the rings.

The barrel is stainless steel made by Ron Smith. I am not sure of the exact method used to blacken the action and barrel. I think that **** said that they are dunked in a vat (outside) of molten salt??? Don't quote me on that, I don't question what he does too much, I just let him work his magic.

If you are shooting prone the rings look too high they may put a strain on your neck by the increased angle which can cause shooting discomfort when shooting long strings.
As EVERYONE else has said give her a go and find out.
If your shooting off a bench then you may actually like the more upright position the higher rings provide.

Those rings are way too high and it throws the whole rifle out of whack, it just won't work! I'll send you out $1000, send me that rifle and start a new build but remember about the rings next time!
All kidding aside, that rifle looks hot and I would shoot it first before I changed anything. I can't wait to to my first "from scratch" build. You should be very happy, congrats!
