From the Mind of BUBBA

The Landsborough Horror Picture Show continues. Looks like it was a matching Finn-capture SVT.....then became someone's deer gun with the cut mag and barrel and bead sight.

There was a dirth of those surplus rifles on the market at one time and they were cheap enough to make them into useful sporters.

That rifle was "sporterized" better than most. I wonder if it allows enough gas to be diverted to function properly??

I had an Agb42 cut similarly. It needed to be loaded with faster powders, such as IMR3031 at close to maximum to reliably function.

Back in the day, if it weren't for those cheap alternatives to commercial offerings, many folks wouldn't have gotten into shooting sports.

If they had all survived, they wouldn't be collectible.

Make a 'muzzle booster' for her. When there is not nearly enough bubbificatiin, kick it up a notch!

So shortening a barrel is illegal but is it illegl to own a rifle that was shortened by someone else?

Neither of that is true. Any barrel can be shortened by anyone, but shortening below a certain length may change the classification of the firearm. In the case of the SVT-40, the barrel has been shortened to 21", which still exceeds the 18.5" minimum for a Semi-Auto centerfire long-arm to remain Non-Restricted.

Up fore sale in Germany, SSG 96, not sure who did it, but the scope mounts are something interesting.

The repositioning of the bolt handle is something pretty amazing as well. I cant imagine that the time spent modding it was financially worth it.

The Shotgun News gunsmithing book had a project with the Mosin Nagant bolt handle being moved rearward.

After seeing another post with pictures of advertisements & prices of guns in Germany, then factoring in the exchange rate, I can believe its worth it.
