Two evenings of:
- pounding the taper pins with a hammer, no doubt making it worse...
- 3in1 penetrating oil
- propane torch
- drill press (not in that order)
In the end, an angle grinder, down as close as I dared, then a Dremel tool down to nearly the barrel, and finally, clamping the front sight in a vise, and taking a cold chisel to the bayonet lug and the sling loop, and voila... one removed front sight. Even saved the front handguard retainer (sort of - nothing some tremclad won't hide!)
