Frontier's new Imperial Defense AR's

So you pay $1650 to get a collapsible stock on a gun that may or may not work???

There are people in Canada that can thread an AR barrel. You can also get a FH made in Canada...

Since no one really seems to have any idea on where these systems come from.

The front handguard cap is non standard as well from GT's pictures.

I dont have any 'high speed" photo programs on this computer - but I would be curious to look at expanded views of the Front Sight Gas Block - specifically the gas tube retaining pin, and the taper pins.

Yeah.....I'm excited about any AR comming in but those of us who do some high round count stuff don't want to buy crap. I'll watch and shoot with this one, the 10.5 is tempting though.

Got word back on the %80 thing if anyone is interested. Emails went like this:

Email 1:
Just curious, we are in process of procuring several MG4A5/6 rifles. Refering to parts interchangability being %80 with M16A2... which parts are not interchangeable?

Reply 1:
The parts that are only fitted to a M16A2 that are relevent to a 20" barrel. The MG4A5 has a 14.5" one and the MG4A6 has a 10.5" one. Also the buttstock is different being collapsible on the MG4A5/6 and fixed on the M16A2.

Mick,

Thanks for the quick response.

I understand the bbl length and stock configurations would vary between the
M4 and M16, but the M16A3 offered from Imperial Defence also states "Parts
interchangeability with the M16A2 exceeds 80%"

Which parts would not be interchangeable between the M16A3 and the M16A2? It just seems strange and I would like to be able to give my clients an answer in case they are looking to mix and match.

Sorry for the mix-up, I should have specified previously.

Thank-you...

Obviously the detachable carrying handle / rear sight assy and upper receiver which are different to the M16A2 on the M16A3.

So uh, I guess we'll find out when they come in :onCrack:

The guns have landed in Canada and are at the distributor waiting to be entered into the CFC data base, one gun was taken to the range and already test fired with several different manufacturers ammunition. The guns that have arrived in Canada are 1/9 twist, and not the advertised 1/7 twist. According to the distributor the fit and finish is much better then Bushmaster, and it digested all the ammunition that they tested ( 55 gr right up to 77gr - PMC/Win/Fed/S&B/Rem), testing was rudimentary as iron sights were only utilized. The distributor was impressed enough that he will be order 500 more guns in the new year, the 100 that came into Canada are all spoken for by various dealer. We will also be testing one of the rifles as soon as we receive them and one has been allocated to a staff member who can do road trips and meet up with other members at their clubs, and people can do their own decision making that way.
