Okay, this is a whining thread and I know I should just be patient. But with the nice weather coming, I won't have time to fool around inside and work on building my SKS and Mosin.
My problem is aftermarket part availability for the SKS and Mosin Nagant.
I have checked many, many websites that sell aftermarket parts and I can find some things but others are constantly sold out. below is a list of parts that I want and cannot get as well as some that I have purchased already.
SKS:
Archangel stock - want want want, but sold out
bolt buffer - sold out
trigger spring and sear kit from Wolf- sold out
Tapco 5 rnd and 5/20 rnd detachable magazines - sold out
Magwedge scope mount - purchased
Muzzle break - purchased
fore grip with slide out bipod - purchased
So I'm almost there, just can't seem to find those elusive parts.
Mosin Nagant:
ATI scope mount and bent bolt kit - sold out
Muzzle break - can't find one that threads on (will not purchase the bolt on kind, heard they fly off)
Archangel AA9130 stock - purchased ( I can't believe I found one, just lying there one day at my local gun shop, $260)
Bipod - purchased
additional magazines - purchased
Timney trigger - wating for Jerry to get back to me from Mystic Precision
Head space gauges - purchased ( have a few Mosins, got to find the one with the best chamber)
After I get these parts for the Mosin, its off to the gunsmith to get the barrel cut down, re-crowned with 11 degree target crown, parkerized finish to barrel and receiver, keeping the bolt and handle chrome. Also might get the gunsmith to mount the ATI mount kit and bent bolt or let him mount his own type of scope mount if he's comfortable doing it as well as thread the muzzle and try to find a threaded muzzle brake for it. After all that, its into the Archangel stock and maybe fiberglass bedding.
So, I'm just frustrated that I'm at a standstill right now waiting for parts to become available. I have lots of time to work on them right now, but give it a few weeks and it'll be nice out and all the outside work will start. I guess I'll maybe have to put the builds on hold till next winter, but I'll tell you what, my trigger finger sure is itching!!
I know.....I'm being whiny!
