Not to drag politics into the picture, but the fewer we are, the quicker our gun ownership rights will erode.
I've been a member of PoCo for a few years, and if you get your RUC, it's not too bad. It does feel like a busy golf driving range most of the time on Range#7.
I'm a member at abby fish and game and have always felt welcome.
There happy to get new members and working real hard on getting the range expanded to acomidate more shooters.

(their lame 1 shot per mag rule is somewhat offset by their excellent facilities and 300m rifle range)
You can have both good and bad experiences at a club, I've met some of the guys who run my local one who are great people, and then others who are rude, mean people. I was so mad the last time I left the range I said I wasn't going back there any more, but I thought about it and realized 2 lousy people shouldn't ruin all my good experiences there,
I live on gabriola island, and after paying a very small fee and a friendly handshake, i was handed a key to the place where members are trusted until there is a reason not to be trusted. the range is always vacant, which makes for a very peacefull shooting experience... since mine is the only gun going off. And when there are more people than just myself, the folks are always more than friendly and the appointed range officers are always very safe yet also informal.
