Full out tactical SKS build

Sooo much of the SKS accessories are cheap Chinese made garbage. Learn how to use the gun as designed.... Millions of people around the world managed to without adding plastic crap to the rifle.

The length of pull was designed for short, starving Russians. While most of my collection is stock, two are in Tapco stocks - one with the bayonet intact. You can always switch it back.

the length of pull is made to fit everyone in the military both men and women short or tall and make up for the heavy winter clothing

An SKS came out of the factory as tactical as it'll ever get. Anything added on to it is just money squandered on marketing.

So the M1 was designed for short, starving Americans? No forethought for winter clothing, packs etc? The only battle rifle at the time with a collapsible buttstock was the Lee Enfield, but they weren't so quick to adjust.

Better off with a VZ58 (or AR15 if you have an RPAL) for what you're going for, as said previously.

IMO, the SKS is best left as is. So much so, I'd like to add another hardwood stock to the safe now that I'm talking about it! Haha

I dont see a problem with using the word "build"................

I built several SKS's and everyone is a tackdriver, not a single one will shoot over 5 MOA's at 20 feet
with bulk match precision Chinese ammo !!!!

My first build, I replaced the mag screw with a tactical one, sold it on the EE as a "Custom".
My second build, I painted the iron sights with red nail polish, it sold really fast.
My third build was a far more complicated, I installed an attack sniper tactical single point adjustable plastic black sling.

I'm still working on my fourth build, it will be a full/complete tacticool........I'll be installing all new screws and pins !!!!!!!!!!

The EE explained in 30 seconds. We should sticky this.

keep her stock, i ran one in a CQB match recently and held my own against shooters running ARs with all the bells and whistles. All of that sh*t is just extra weight and in my opinion, hideous.

$400 approx.? Russian. Have a look at this scope mount. It is a Made in Canada option. No affiliation. Have a look at this custom stock in the USA.

thats equivalent to putting a supercharged 400hp engine with a blower in a chevy cavalier!

The custom stock is nice - where it fails is the non existant cheek rest, the bullputz hates lefties & the forward auxiliary barrel band is a fail too. Otherwise the stock exudes Em2 mojo.

The sks in the other pic has 720 bux of stuff on it. Unless you are unscrupulous when it comes time to sell her, you got a $200 bux rifle with 720 bux worth of extra parts on it.

As long as you are happy, but think of the logistics of it and the resale value. Engineering Economics is not an optional thing. :)

Don't listen to the haters too much , I respect there opinions of keeping it stock bc they do work better as designed , but......... Building is a really fun and a great way to learn the inner workings of your rifle , and it satisfying your inner GI joe ! What I did was save all the stock parts and buy a second gas tube , that way I have the best of both worlds , the GI Joe ##### extender , and the com-block red rifle all in one , all you need is 15 min to make it look the way you want .

It is your gun and your money, so do what you want! Personally, I covered both bases. I got a nice laminated russian SKS which will remain stock. Not liking the star bayonet or "dollar store broom" quality wood stock of my Chinese model, it got put into an Archangel stock with a detachable mag. I wanted to try a firearm with a pistol grip but have no interest in going restricted. A nice sling on it and I'm having a lot of fun with both.

How do you like the archangel stock? It's the tactical stock I like the most, pretty clean looking. I'd like to do the same and keep my 53 laminate in stock trim but have a second in the archangel with a red dot and the BC tactical mount. Nice and simple not dripping with rails and scopes, it's an sks after all.

Explain how changing the stock and adding a bunch of crap helps you learn the "inner workings"?

All the SKS needs is some trigger work and some stock shimming/bedding if nessisary. That's basically it. Doing that your self is way more satisfying then buying a bunch of aftermarket parts. As you will actually learn something from it.

Also, Aftermarket detachable mags are a waste. The original clip loaded mag works just fine. I guarantee I can load faster and get more rounds on target in 30 seconds that you can with a crapco mag... FTF?

Hey guys im wondering what a full out tactical SKS build is worth. Im talking quad rail, laser, lights, bipod tapco stock, forend pistol grip, 20rnd clip, muzzle break with optics and scope mounts. Looking to purchase one wondering what the value is on something like this. What line of SKS is better the Russian or the Chinese?

What the person willing to spend. Something like that I tell them to give me the SKS and you keep the accessories.

I seen them range from 250$ to 600$
