I've been a member of CGN for about a month or so, searching the forums every day for ambidextrous firearms. Sure, plenty of pistols have the safety on both sides, but the magazine releases/slide locks aren't. Problem is, this equates to searching for a needle in a hay stack in the dark. Blindfolded

I didn't see any threads specifically for ambidextrous firearms, and I know I'm not the only right-handed left-eyed person on CGN. I put it in the pistol/wheelgun section, because fully ambidextrous rifles are few, far between, upwards of 2 grand or simply not imported to Canada. If you guys prove me wrong, I'll gladly edit my post for a move to another section.

Walther P99 in 9mm or .40 - All versions of the P99 have had an ambi mag release.
Current versions I have seen imported into Canada also have the extended ambi slide release.

Or alternately you can shoot almost any pistol with an ambi safety left handed while using your trigger finger for the mag release and slide lock. At least thats what i do with my sp01.

I'm right handed and have shifted my mag release to the right side on all my guns. Much faster way of releasing the mag. Not sure why it is on the left side for right handed folks. Colt had it wrong in the 1911's in my opinion.

Take Care

"...why it is on the left side for right handed folks..." Right thumb operation. Left thumb operation when shooting with both hands. Colt had nothing to do with it though. JM Browning designed it.
"...fully ambidextrous rifles..." What would you want an ambidextrous rifle for?

Well, for one, It's a lot easier to re-sell a rifle if right-eyed people can wield it.

Also: I can let my right-eyed friends/family try it out at the range, maybe get them interested in the sport.

I honestly don't see why ANY gunsmith should make a right-handed-only firearm.

Pistols - CZ85, M&P, P7
I'm with Bob, mag release for a right hand shooter should be on the right side of the gun, way faster.
