Fun semi-auto .22 recommendations

I have to throw in a vote in for the 10/22......
I shot a round of match targets last night and decided to warm up my 10/22 barrel after.
The 10/22 was so much fun that I actually giggled while the other guys were still shooting match rifles.
Minor mods, but with a cheap scope and bipod was super accurate.
Just my two cents worth.
 
Another vote for the 10/22. The jamster 10/22's can almost all be solved with one simple mod (at least in my experience) put a KIDD or Volquartsen extractor in it and voila. Problem solved. I've done this to over 30 jamomatic 10/22's for people and it's solved that issue faithfully. Simple and cheap mod to make a great gun even better... and if you get larger cap mags, use only butler creek steel lipped mags. As for accuracy it'll hit whatever you're aiming at... may not shoot pencil holes on top of pencil holes, but you'll hit that gong, pop bottle, pigeon, squirrel all day long and thats my definition of accurate --- no wasted ammo...

CZ512 is a very, very good rifle, but more expensive than some of the others. I have a Marlin 795 and love it, sold my Savage 64G which was also great, missed a semi so bought the Marlin, like them both. Had a 10/22 and sold, only because I didn't like the sights and the Savage was 10 times more accurate. Just sayin.

I'd say bu11 c rap. You're more likely to hear about guns with problems, than guns with no problems. For every one you hear about with a problem, there are probably hundreds or even thousands without issues.

The 10/22 is the most versatile choice. Leave it stock, or upgrade at your pleasure. There isn't another 22 with more options available in the aftermarket.

I have the rock island armory version of the 10/22, picked it up at the local gun shop for a little more than half the price of the ruger. I have about 400 rounds through it so far, no jams, ftf, fte. I can hit pop cans all day long, when your done shooting it strips down pretty easy for cleaning too. I would not hesitate to buy it again for a plinker/fun gun

And if the OP gets the one that doesn't run, then whatever the percentage is of good rifles to lemons, it won't matter, its a new rifle that won't run lol!

I own one of the not so great ones. Wouldn't recommend another one, unless fixing new garbage that was QC'd by Hellen Keller is something your into!
 
I have a 10/22, a gevarm e1 and a C.I.L model 212. The 10/22 only gets used by my youngest kid. I much prefer the others. The CIL is like a laser but won't cycle with cheap ammo. the gevarm eats anything

I love my SR22, its reliable as can be and is fun to shoot, especially with the 110 round mag. Don't go nuts on the mods and it will work well.
 
Looking at your criteria i have another vote for the 795
accurate out of the box no mods needed to make accurate like the humpty dumpty 10/22
which would cost 4 times the marlins price and still not likely be as accurate

now if money is no object and your into mods then the 10/22 is your gal

IMO blasting away with a semi gets old quick. Learn to shoot your CZ faster. When you get good at it you will find yourself missing a lot slower.
If you must have a semi you need to consider a Marlin60. Reliable out of the box for ~$200 and can be had in magazine or tube fed config….

Yet the only problem I've had is when I purposely never cleaned it (one with carry handle ) until it malfunctioned..after 800 rounds.
I've put them through the paces including speed fireing at multiple targets...all fun...no probs and I can put on all kinds of bling.
Although these are now required to have 10rd mags only , I've taught myself to drop n charge the mags quickly with a trick or two .
I'll also have a KWC Sig Sauer 226 lookalike ( which is a blowback BB pistol ) in a drop-leg holster , to pull after I'm through shooting the 22 intended targets and pump a mag into targets 20 - 30 ft away...RPAL not required.
Yeah , we'll hear all about them..but after 1000's of rounds through each I still got my $$$ worth.
