Fun targets for .22

What kind of ranges are you people shooting at? Given the list of targets I'd say fairly short.

I like to shoot at my MKII at 100-150 yds with iron sights usually shooting clay targets, but last year at xmas a buddy got me one of those champion flipper targets. There is a good challenge.

Never tried shooting golf balls....but I will now. Thanks.
Steel targets like a dueling tree are way better than boring paper. You might want to cap off the session with a binary exploding target if you think she'd enjoy it.

Re setting metal target.

I bought 5 metal gophers from Cabelas that i just plant all over the field at unknown distance. Very satisfying sound

That's the great thing about golf balls and some flat clear land. The first shot may be at 10-15yds and depending on how good your first shot was the second might be anywhere from 10-150yds:) Golf balls are great target/range estimators for grouse or rabbit head shots also.

These dueling trees sound like a lot of fun, where's a good place to pick one up online?
Amazon.ca do all outdoors brand is the one i have, the only complaint this particular one (newest version) any distance less than 60yds they tend to bounce back to the same side on occasion as there is no springs, it just leans forward a bit and uses the weight of the paddles, the one i have for centerfire calibers has a spring mechanism and has worked flawlessly 95% of the time with 9mm and 357 lead loads from 25-50yds approx. 500+ hits and counting. The Caldwell (i think) shooting gallery one that runs on a battery looks fun.

Best dueling tree imo is action targets rimfire.
Yes Do-All makes one but just read the reviews. Its crap!
If you have seen Nutnfancy vids. He does a review on action targets.
Best thing is he gives you a code for a discount. 15% off!
$150 US before everything!
Now again I also lucked out when the dollar was 85+ cents including exchange. Now its alot more.
However the only comparable tree is from Jumpingtargets. $375 US but when I was looking, a guy in Edmonton was offering for the same amount in Canadian dollars.
If anyone is wanting to try mine. Please message me.
All said and done iirc, I got the hostage and dueling tree for less including exchane rate for the same price as the Jumpingtargets cost!

Buy a flat of cheap bottled water from Home Depot. Empty bottles aren't great, because the bullet zips through them so fast they hardly even twitch. A full water bottle... Different story.

You can make a game of trying to pick them off as close to the base as you can. Easy to see who wins that contest - the person who gets the best airtime out of the bottled water.

I did golf balls dangling from twine. Got a dollar store tomato plant trellis for the stand. Drilled holes in used golf balls, and put a cotter pin through it. Tied twine so the golfball could dangle from the trellis. After awhile I blew apart one of the balls, weakened by the pin going through the core, and the other had the twine blown off. Still fun when I'm able to "finish them off".

Dollar store crackers are great. Take a 2x6 and cut 2 or 3 grooves in it and stand the crackerz up in the grooves. They explode when you hit them and the squirrels clean them up.

That's an awesome idea.... You could make a dualing tree like that first one get the six in a row wins ...cool

We usually put them out farther around 75 yds to 100 yds (adults)and you get 1 shot for each cracker. The kids shoot at them around 50 yds and burn through a brick in an afternoon. In the fall we collect the crab apples and I drill holes for round tooth picks for them to sit on. They explode when hit. Cheap fun.
Scott...

Golf balls at the bottom of a sandy hill. Hit them at the bottom and they fly uphill, then try and nail them a couple of times as they roll back down. A semi is best for this action. Also have a small resettable steel target stand. Hit 4 diamond steel plates till they disappear then hit the 5th to drop them down again. About $60. at Crappy Tire.

Battle Ship

That reminds me of a great afternoon a buddy and I spent playing Tic-Tac-Toe with Enfields.

We gridded 8.5" x 11" sheets into tic-tac-toe boards, and took turns shooting off hand at 50 yards. If yo0u hit a "square" that had already been hit, then you basically wasted a shot and the other guy got a free turn.

A little bit of friendly competition and making the game a bit silly can really make for a nice day.
