Fun with Mosin-Nagant

We have a very nice day today, great weather, sunshine and a day off the job. Perfect time to hit the range with my friend and my 1943 Mosin-Nagant 91/30.

Any ideas on where to get a cheap on in Alberta?

Could try a Canadian tire
Your average matching refurb 91/30 is now a $600 gun, give or take. If you find one cheaper that isn’t broken or dinked with, you’re doing well now.

I remember buying them for $90 from lever arms over 20 years ago, but those days are long gone, and new imports have dried up.

in 2011 i was buying them by the 20 in a sealed case for 90$ ea
You should have started earlier. Early 1992, if you bought 20 cases, they would be delivered out of Montreal for less than $1K. That included bayonets, cleaning and parts kits, slings. If they came in crates, they were usually factory fresh FTRs. The odd time you could luck out and all the rifles would be new unissued but late 1944-45 dated, with matching numbers.

They also sold the ammo, 50 crates on a pallet, but the minimum order was 5 pallets. Shipping that ammo cost as much as the ammo back then.

You couldn't give them away back then, other than to a few collectors, most of whom wanted to rip apart every crate.

I got tired of those boys quickly and just started taking the rifles to gun shows a crate at a time. Same money, less hassle.
