Well, after having my pee pee slapped for the last thread since the gods seemed to think I was doing something illegal, I've been given the go ahead to post about my fun with the CFC.
I called the CFC, best to do this in the early morning as I got in on one ring!
I informed the operator I needed the number of a verifier in my area. She told me they no longer give out the numbers as all verification is done over the phone. Great system you got there. She ask me for the info on the firearm and I explained it was a newly built rifle and I needed to verified to get an FRT number. She eventually clued in and transferred me to a technician.
Gary was an absolute joy to deal with and new his stuff. We even discussed materials selection and the manufacturing process a bit. After explaining the details of what I had built we simply needed to verify the rifle. What sophisticated and fool proof process does the CFC use? Emailed pictures.
This is part of the discussion that took place with Gary, I thought you guys would like it. He loved my serial number FU-C68. When I told him the serial number the conversation went like this:
Gary: "F U C? Hmm, that's interesting."
Me: "No, no, that's FU dash C68."
Gary "Well, we don't uses dashes, so it will just be FUC68. What does the FU stand for?"
Me: "Firearm, Unique."
Gary: "Oh that's neat. And C68, that's as in Bill C68?"
Me: "No, it's just a random number."
Now it's just the waiting game for registration card.
