FutureWeapons - LWRC Rifles

I was told by someone who knows one of the producers that the show was very popular but got "ASKED" to cancel.Apparently they didn't get official permission to show some of the things they did.

It's a real shame, sure the guy is annoying (and sounds like some clueless newbie much of the time) but the show is basically very good, I don't think they'd have any trouble turning this into a weekly weapon/military related "news" type of show and there seems to be quite the market for that sort of thing, especially in the US.

judging from some of the "SEALs/Delta Force/RCMP/Marine etc" hosts/experts that show up on these shows i'm guessing it is a job first and they may be gunnutz second or third or fourth....
hell even R. Lee Ermey has had some moments...blasphemy i know

This has been beaten to death over at arfcom. Yes, respect him for what he did and his credentials but face it, in the t.v world he was a failure. It was either the producer or him that screwed up that part.

His acting was far too eccentric. At the same time perhaps it was geared to gain interest in those who don't know much about guns or other weaponry.

"these guns can shoot, even upside down."

To the true gunnutz, statements like these have us losing respect for the show. Far too amateur at times.

Wow, pretty rough on this show!! It's decent for what it is, and I think the host does a good job at this type of mainstream presentation ....

what do you all you hardcore commando types watch instead?

Not 100% sure, but alot of the mags in those AR's looked like the new ones with the front part that slides down for loading.

Hey, I spent a week with "Mack" and believe it or not, he is a pretty solid guy. He is dramatic, but let me tell you this....if he was not, this show would have been cancelled after season 1. You will see, at one point in our interview, Mack gets really dramatic and excited at which point I tell him to calm down. I can tell you that his job is alot harder than it looks.

They do dummy the show down to the lowest common denominator...the general public.

We spend alot of time with SF guys and police. Many of them are not "gun guys." That is not to say they do not know how to employ their weapon effectively, it just means that their weapon is just a tool, and just part of their job. They take what is issued and do the best job they can. Many are gun guys, but far more are not.

This season will be different. Discovery asked Waddel Media (production co) to incorporate more science and more action. They are also making efforts to make it more accurate and vette all of the information provided. Discovery has taken a refreshing step by making war, weapons, guns more mainstream. Maybe some libtards out there will realize that the military, guns and weapons are part of living on earth. Kumbya MF's!

At the shoot was Paul Howe (ex unit), a bunch of active duty guys from SOCOM, Darrel "Moe" Elmore, ex-dco for 5th SFG, and a cast of other ex-SF types. The weapons were run through "realistic" scenario's to demonstrate capability and keep the pieces interesting. When I say realistic, I am not talking about gear, or plate carriers, swiss army knives, or boots. I am talking about tactics and scenarios that come from the real world. I am sure there will be loads of people still critical of it even though this was all done with active duty personnel who have been there and done that and ran the exercises. Then once the producer chops it up, it will look different to what actually took place.

Mack is a character no doubt. He is a great guy, and boisterous about being a seal. However, I have not met one yet that wasn't proud of being a Seal. With all of the Gun Show Seals down here, I am not surprised the real guys are as high visibility as they are.

Anyway, I have seen one of the episodes allready. They will start airing in October and will be spaced out through the season. They also did the MASADA which I am looking forward to seeing.

Cheers!

They did the MASADA? Awesome. The MASADA is on my list "to buy" when they eventually get it to a final production version.
That...and I morph from being a poor student to a rich entrepeneur... :(

I was entertained. I don't understand why people are so critical - It seems like everyone thinks he knows better?? who cares? it is TV- leave your ego behind and enjoy!!! You don't need to show your gf you know more than the guy on TV......

Exactly, that's who the show was aimed at. Dumbass video gamers and couch commandos.

Hence the reason any one who knows anything about the stuff the covered hates it.

No offence, but I think that is a pretty general statement that is entirely based on, well... nothing. Unless of course you have interviewed all of the shows viewers probably numbering in the 10's to 100's of thousands or more. There is a pretty good chance you will find that alot are entertained by the show which is the ONLY reason the show exists/existed in the first place. Television shows by nature must ENTERTAIN first and INFORM second. Otherwise they don't make it onto TV or don't stay around long.

We can, and do, slam every single TV show out there for inaccuracies/hosts/actors, but the fact remains that these shows are: "For entertainment purpose only". and from that perspective this show is/was pretty darn good, particularly in the absence of other programming of this nature!

Slam the host all you want but I'd be more then surprised if anyone here could do a better job and still keep the show interesting and not sound like you are either reading from a tired old textbook/manual or are just a plain old boring SOB. If people want 100% accurate information I'd suggest NOT going to he television to get it.

I have two questions. Firstly who is the Canadian distributor/retailer for LWRC and secondly when will the 7.62X51 version (SABR) be available in the Canadian market?

I dunno about the SABR, but I've been in contact with Darren Mellors from LWRC and he says Arms House is waiting for the green light from the american side to import 300 LWRC rifles. They are also going to be a service center, so should something happen, you wont have to send it across the border. I think he told me ETA would be 6-8 weeks

I never said it wasn't a great show. I think it's one of those shows we all love to hate. :D
