G19X is HERE!!!!

At the range down here in the US I stuck my 17 Gen 5 mag in the 19x I rented, and it just fell right out. So 17 Gen 5 mags are out for the 19x. Bummer since I have 6 Gen 5 mags and it would have been nice to use them in the 19x. But the 17 Gen 5 mags worked perfectly in the 19 Gen 5.
The problem is that the Gen5 mags have a larger lip on the front of the magazine base-plate. It interferes with the "toe" on the wag-well of the G19X.

You can easily fix this by replacing the base-plates with something like the Vickers Tactical Magazine Floor Plates from Tango Down. I put the Gen4 Grip Plug/Takedown tool onto my G19X as well. They all work together just fine.

Was yours purchased as a civilian gun or through Rampart?
They're the same. I confirmed with the Glock Canada rep that all 19X's should come with the Maritime cups. However replacements will be standard if you ever need them most likely.

For some strange reason I find the idea extremely appealing. I thought they avoided using them because it can sometimes cause issues with hard primers or something along those lines.

I also didn't realize that the Vickers baseplates would work with the Gen 5 17 mags in the 19X. Very interesting developments around a gun I was already thinking long and hard about.

Well, Bob, mine just arrived, so prepare to have your butt kicked by it! And I'll be doing an over-hand slide release just to annoy you! :p

Well Troy was kind enough to let me try his 19X. Build quality was way better than i expected. Gun felt like every other Glock I have tried. I am not sure why Glock sticks with the most uncomfortable grip in pistol land but the company does and like all other Glocks points high in your hand naturally. I know the lowering of the barrel presets your tendons for a better grip but it does come with a price in my hands. The gun certainly shoots well and I had no trouble thumping the head box on an IDPA target from about 15 yards shooting quickly. If you like Glocks you will like the 19x. A great gun and one I would get into if not for the grip.

Initially I was prepared to accept my butt was kicked at today's match by 4 seconds over 8 stages by Troy but alas there was a scoring error noted by Troy who is our resident stats man, among other duties. He noticed his only "No Shoot" penalty had not been recorded. He made the adjustment resulting in his butt being kicked by 1 second over 8 stages mirroring my loss to him last year by 1 second. LOL You have to understand how seriously or not, we take this annual event. All in good fun.

Take Care

Bob

Good to know! Thanks!

Got my G19X transfer notification today, went to the range and put another 200 rounds through it before picking it up. Up to 400 rounds now. Here's some photos after I cleaned it post-400 rounds, featuring the Tango Down Vickers Tactical butt plug/takedown tool and floor plates.

Another thing to note: The G19X comes with a Dot Connector. This means it will have approx 4.5 - 6.7 lbs trigger factory, as opposed to the standard 5.2 - 7.4 lbs. Not QUITE as light as a Minus connector (4.3 - 6.5 lbs) but definitely feels lighter than a standard trigger.

Extremely appealing or extreme appalling?

AFAIK from the Armourer's course the only difference is that the maritime cups don't create a full seal in the firing pin channel. This allows water to drain faster. The downside is that it's also an ingest area for debris that could potentially cause issues. They didn't mention anything about hard primers, but did mention that the lifetime on the maritime cups is generally lower due to the reduced material. Hence why they don't supply them to civilians, who will moan about "Glock Perfection" parts breaking... Meanwhile the chances of a civilian actually NEEDING maritime cups are essentially zero.

Glocks will still fire underwater, or with a mostly water filled action, with or without the maritime cups. The maritime cups really just help drainage faster so if you're doing that kind of thing a lot, constantly higher pressures don't cause detrimental things to start happening.

I have several replacement cups on hand, maritime and standard. I'll likely replace with standard because I don't "oper8" in a maritime environment and need to worry about my Glock draining water...

Couldn't resist. Cut the stupid little toe off the grip to fit an Agency Arms magwell I had sitting around. Had the guys at CSC laser engrave the backplate as well. Came out really nice, color almost matches too.

Glock has announced the G45 a true gen 5 Glock 19 slide on a 17 frame. In Black, with front serrations... wonder if this will make its way up here to Cannuckistan? I wonder if it will matter with Bill C71?

I originally wasn't going to entertain the thought of getting this because I thought it would look goofy with the barrel protruding out of the slide, but it doesn't bug me as much as I thought it would. I picked mine up last week and have spent the weekend just looking at it. Registration hasn't shown up yet, so that's all I can do. I can't remember the first trigger pull with my G17 Gen4, but this trigger feels really crispy. There isn't any squishyness or lag in my trigger and I got the one with the metal night sights! Don't have to worry about breakin' the corner off from the plastic stock sights. I didn't even know they came with night sights...I just wanted it cuz FDE and G19 with G17 grip. I hope the certificate comes in soon. I was gonna buy a Beretta 92 cuz ya know "yippee kiyay mothafu..." but then I saw the 19X picture and my jaw dropped.

P.S. I don't care what Bruce Willis says...Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

I took mine to the range today and put about 300 rounds through it. Here are my thoughts:

- it has combat sights. POI is where the dots are.

- it has a Picatinny rail instead of a Glock rail, likely because of the military contract.

- factory and Magpul mags ran flawless with four types of ammo and weights

- at 8m slow fire I put five rounds unsupported into a circle a bit bigger than my thumbnail

- at 10m I put 20 rounds into a circle about 2/3 the length of the mag as fast as I could pull the trigger

My only gun prep was to run a bore snake and oil the slide rails before shooting. This was far from scientific but I was quite happy with the performance of my 19X.
