Well - I couldn't resist and called Promag. The guy on the phone checked and told me the photo on the site is the 16.12 inch youth/compact barrel.

Perhaps my math is no good, but if it is 28 3/8 inches overall when folded (or 28.375 inches) with an 18.5 inch barrel, that means it would be 25.995 inches if you used a 16.12 inch barreled youth/compact 10/22. Which seems to me to be 0.4 inches under the minimum limit of 660mm (26.4 inches) to retain the folding stock functionality and still remain non-restricted.

If that is the case it would be a real shame. I'll still buy one and use an 18.5 inch barrel, but geez, for the want of an extra 0.4 inches......

Buy a .920 16.5" Dlask
 
I suppose that is an option, but then you would have to forgo the flash hider and/or make modifications to get it to fit on a 0.92 barrel wouldn't you?

More importantly, it is probably good to point out the potential issues as you just know somebody will round down to "26 inches" and think a youth/carbine model is just fine in the kit.

Dlask barrels are threaded for a flash hider. I would imagine you just can't use the one in the kit as its likely a push on retained by a set screw or something, not threaded. They also have standard profile barrels the Kits flash hider may work on.

The length issue was brought up earlier in this thread. If you want to push the limit of the Law you could use a youth 16 1/8 barrel... but.... this will be all of 6mm and change longer than the legal limit of 660mm... do you want to be less than a cm away from losing your firearm rights and possible jail time?? Everyone measures things a little different, I'd go on the safe side with a 16.5" barrel and leave your self with almost a full cm over the limit.
 
I think we are agreeing it is good to be on the safe side.

The point I was making is that it looks like the 16 1/8 inch (or 16.12 inches if you prefer decimals) youth barrel will be too short (based on the published numbers).

It also looks like a Dlask 16.5 will also be either too short or awfully close to the limit, as it would appear to have a 26.375 inch OAL (based on the published numbers), which is just under the 26.4 inch minimum OAL.

So I guess the point to take away from all of this is that if you rush out and buy a 16 1/8 or 16.5 inch barrel in anticipation of receiving your kit, you might find yourself either trying to return/exchange the rifle/barrel or pinning the stock.

Just for the record, the minimum OAL is 660mm, which works out to 25.98", not 26.4" as you state.

So 2 weeks and counting? Given this is the firearms industry I say make that 4 :stirthepot2:

I should've pre-ordered my own earlier, must be A LOT of stocks rolling out of Pro Mag.
 
Count on 2 weeks minimum from the first of the month due to Canada customs and another week or two for the local packageing shipping...

Would be nice if someone could actually verify promag shipped them tho.
 
Now if only we could get them to put out an MG36 dual-drum replica that can hold 50-100rnds.

Just got off the phone to Promag, They are still saying they should be shipping our orders by the first week of June. All mag issues have been resolved. We will let you know as soon as they are shipped!
