I handled a beautiful matching Hungarian G98/40 rifle the other day, All German marked, jvh41 marked on the receiver. To be honest it was the first one I had ever handled. Anyone else have one in their collection? Definitely do not see many around.:)

I've seen one or two on the EE, never handled one though. What I'd really like to see is the Hungarian 35M!

Maybe you can get Claven2 to sell it to you, I sold it to him a couple of years ago so he has had ample time to drool on and enjoy, he should now share.

John

As discussed in the Knowledge Library entry John, the rifle was reviewed by a number of authored German collectors world wide and some anomalies discussed.

At one time I had an M-35 and 3 x 98/40's:

Gentlemen, I thank you all for your expertise here, and sharing your experiences. It's really out of my collecting field, but I must admit I am quite curious about these rifles, and if possible, could see one in the safe in teh future (if I can ever find one:)).
Thanks again Gentlemen
Joe

Actually John, when Andy and I came out to your place to view and buy that rifle, I was there more for expertise - it was Andy's cash and his rifle :) I ended up buying some other stuff from you on that visit.

Despite any potential issues with it, it's still a wonderful rifle.
