Even the guys who won't let you join the rifle section?
Everyone who wants into the rifle section gets into the rifle section. It's simply a matter of joining the club first, and getting your name on the list. Members on the waiting list get in on the next go around.
It's not immediate access, and that's what puts a lot of people off. It's not great, but, the rifle section has been burned more than once by members not abiding by the rules, and as such, the bar has been raised to get in.
As I said, everyone who wants into rifle gets in. It just doesn't happen the day you pay your money. Having been a member for 5 years now, and having been able to get out and shoot at the rifle range on a regular basis, I have no complaints. It took four year alone just to get the 2 man sanction lifted by the CFO after the last round of bad members ruined it for the rest of us.
Everyone gets in. Galt is simply looking for long term, club minded individuals to join and commit to the club first. Ideally folks who clean up after themselves, come out to work days, and follow the rules.
Joining Galt is about more than simply paying your money and getting out to shoot. It's a big club, with a lot of property, a lot of members, and a a lot of costs. It's also had its share of issues, and is simply looking for a membership that is all on the same page.
You don't have to like it. If you want it to change, you have to effect change from within. Speaking personally about the rifle section, I can assure you that the core group that runs the section are great guys, who love to get out and shoot on thursday nights. That's what changed my attitude about the section, and also taught me how silhouette is hands down the best way to improve your shooting skills.
But then, only about 12-17 people ever show up for the regular Thursday night shoots, which confirms that most aren't interested in he the social aspect of the shooting sports.
Everyone who wants into Galt rifle gets in.
