Hey Guys; I had some fun at the range today with two of my 22 cal air rifles... Plinking with air guns brings me back to being a kid!

I picked up the Gamo Swarm Evo Gen3i with rings & a fixed 4 power Gamo scope as a package from Cabelas on Wild Wednesday. It came with a spare mag, 100 Gamo Rocket pellets & 50 paper targets.

I've been wanting to try the Gamo Swarm for a couple reasons: (1) It's a Nitro Piston & (2) it's a cool 10 round mag fed break barrel... This Gen3i mag system is inertia fed, it uses the recoil to advance the mag & thereby prevents accidental double feeding of pellets. I also discovered you can store the spare Swarm mag in the pistol grip, a nice feature! The Swarm also has a manual safety, once you take it off, it's off...

Things I noticed about the Gamo. It is lighter & quieter, but I am not sure it's built like the Diana which I think will last a lifetime... The Gamo also has a two stage trigger that I found a bit long wrt travel, gotta see what I can do about that… And the Gamo Swarm fed all the pellets I tried flawlessly.

The Gamo liked the expensive German Target quality pellets. Here's a target shot at 20m.

My Diana M48 side c0cking springer has a Hawke 2-7x32 scope on it, an awesome trigger & my only complaint is it's quite a bit heavier than the Gamo Swarm. It has an automatic safety that resets each time you c0ck the rifle.

It likes the cheap Crosman Premier pellet, again shot at 20m.

Both rifles are good cheap fun & I enjoy them immensely. I would say that the Gamo Swarm is worth picking up on sale & impressed me with its accuracy and rate of fire with the 10 round magazines. The Diana I've had for years, it's a solid & reliable workhorse. Oh, and I like the splatter targets off Temu.

I picked up the Gamo Swarm Evo a couple of weeks ago . Very impressive performance for the price . Much better than expected actually . Shoots every pellet that I've tried very well . With RWS and H&N dome pellets it shoots one hole groups at 10M . With the RWS 14.5gr pellets , it's right at 725fps . I will be taking the rifle out to much longer distances this weekend so we'll see what's what . No , it's not a $2000 PCP , but , for the price , it's very impressive and very solid . Zero complaints .

What's the advantage of mag fed, the break barrel action has to be done every shot.

I guess fumbling with a pellet is the benefit, as a it's not a quick on target second shot in either mag fed or single shot

I have been watching a lot of YouTibe videos on the Gamo .22. Any thoughts on the Swarm Magnum?
What I see online is the Magnum is more power, more cocking effort, and more weight.

I'd guess louder to, but I have no personal experience with the Magnum Swarm.

I recently received a new Weihrauch HW90 I was dissapointed with it at first, as I could only c.o.c.k it about 4 times before I could no longer. LOL

So back to the gun store for a gauge and pump, when I got the gauge I found the piston was at 40 Bar!

I reduced it to the maximum 26 Bar and this worked well for me.

This powerful .22 cal has a superb trigger, I installed a Leupold VX Freedom 3-9 x33 rimfire scope on it.

The gas piston is much tamer than a springer, I did not have the scope movement issues I have encountered with springers.

Beautiful rifle!

Is that the factory Gamo scope? I just bought one (Bass Pro had them on for Wild Wednesday at $279). Mounted the scope but one of the base screws wouldn't tighten. I pushed it out and turns out it has no threads (luckily the hole is threaded). I'll go back to the store & see if they can help. Otherwise I have to find a substitute screw. Except for that, first impressions are it's pretty decent for the money.

Yes. It's a Gamo fixed four power scope that came with the Gamo Swarm. Works okay.

Gamo "rocket pellets" for 17.99,- / 150 pcs. at CT or 11.99,- / 100 pcs. at Sail for these air rifle pellets, lol ?

What have we come to ?

A Gamo over a Diana M48 ? With all respect - Is this some bad joke or something ? 👠

You'll note above that I give the nod to my Diana M48 for quality (noting it will last a lifetime) but it is a single shot...

It's the features & price of the Gamo Swarm that makes me give it the nod if you were looking for an air rifle to deal with pests. Pretty awesome package with the 10 shot magazine, making it way faster than the Diana M48 for follow up shots...

I believe the Diana will last longer than the gamo and are more accurate. Fixed barrel, less likely to have a breech seal leak.

But with Gamo, how long before the mag gives issue, then click.

No idea on the longevity of the mag feed system on the Gamo...

For the light use it gets from me, it's been working as intended...

Thanks for that nugget of info HondaVTEC, I was wondering what the velocity truly was... They all like to fib about that little detail, lol!

I recently swapped the Hawke 2-7x32 from the Diana to the Gamo Swarm & hit the range to sight it in.

What transpired was an impressive performance @ 20m by the Gamo Swarm wearing the Hawke scope!
