7.62 Garands
The Italians converted a number to 7.62.This was done by cutting off the breech end of a standard .30-06 barrel,re-threading and reaming with a 7.62 reamer.This conversion shortened the barrel approx 1/2" and required the use of a shortened stock,op rod,op rod spring,and rear handguard,as well as the installation of a spacer block beneath the bullet guide.This conversion works well.You can also procure a commercial .308 Win barrel and have it installed with no other changes except to install a spacer block to facilitate semi-auto feeding.
