I just bought a spare set of new Garand rear sights off fleabay , the seller advertised that he had 2 types of pinions for it.
Quote : - The Elevating Drum is Marked: VB, The Highest number being 12 for 30.06 cal.
(Let Me Know If You Need 308 PINION The Highest number being 8 )
- The Windage Knob is marked: BR
I have a set on one of my rifles already and I believe the sights are graduated up to 12 ,
Last year at milcun Hungry called it to a T as to what my comeups would be on my Shorty for the different ranges out to 500 meters .
My sights work like this
100 yds - 1 click from bottom
200 yards add 2 clicks - total 3 clicks from bottom
300 yards add 3 clicks - total 6 clicks
400 yards add 4 clicks - total 10 clicks
500 yards add 5 clicks - total 15 clicks from bottom
I have never heard of the 308 pinions and was thinking of getting the ones graduated to 12 (30.06) again .Has anyone used the 308 pinion and what if any would be the advantage if any of going with that one.
Thanks
