Been scoping some of my military surplus rifles lately and have been looking through the internet. Bad Ace was a good find. Currently have 4 of their mounts. What want is mounts that don’t require drilling and tapping my rifles , basically decreasing the value.
This morning I found an interesting mount. Every mount I found used the rear site base on the Garand and no good for a regular scope. Made for red dots. Regular scope would block loading.
I found a mount that replaces the rear hand guard on the Garand. Ultimak mounts. Has two clamps that go around your barrel. They fit a normal Garand. The write says won’t fit tankers due to op rod clearance. I am thinking of getting one just to try one out. Has any tried the Garand mount or any of the others they sell ?The mount is the size of the rear hand guard.

No experience with their products, but please keep up posted if you get one. I like hunting with my Garand but my eyes are old enough that the iron sights are not as good as they once were and an optic is still needed for low light conditions. Putting a scout scope on it would be a fantastic improvement.

I have this one in the plans as well. There are extended cantilever mounts meant for a m14 that I expect should work with this...

Just realized the cantilever is probably useless for you because of the clips (my garand is converted to magazines)

I have one on my M1 carbine, someone shortened it for use on a AO, so doesn't tuck under the HG band. But hasn't shifted. You might have to inlet your stock for the clamps.

From the write up on their site I won’t have to modify anything for the Garand. The m 1 carbine has a few slightly different mounts available so that’s just getting the right one. Mostly different dimensions in the carbine stock. May have to be cut out.
The more I read about the Garand mount the more I like it. If I am going to order I may just get them both. With the postal strike I’ll probably wait until January. One scout scope left that needs a home.

It's just the length that is different for the M1 Carbine. Auto Ord will be shorter than the Milspec.

I had an Ultimak on a Ruger ranch. Wolverine Supplies got it for me. It was top quality, dropped right on, no issues, and worked great (at least until I sold the rifle). Based on that experience (of one), I'd recommend Ultimak.

A few years ago I bought from a member on this forum a B-Square mount for my Garand, I was a bit skeptical of how it would work, but the price was right so I gave it a try.
Have been very impressed with it, does involve removing of the rear sight, but even with an inexpensive scope I can shoot it a lot better than with open sights and my old eyes.

Be prepared to fit and file for clearance and tightness. The first ferrule is only held on with a simple steel pin about 1/16th diameter that nobody expected would every have any extra forces. Maybe think about tap tap tapping in a good roll pin.

If it was an m14, there's so much you used to be able to do with it at www.m14.ca unfortunately those are prohibited, now

The scout handguard for the M14 helped in barrel stabilization and, thus, accurizing the M14. It's great for mounting a scope or other sight in the scout configuration. I was under the impression that they had something for the Garand at one point, but I am not seeing anything for the Garand on their website except for this scope mount: http://www.m14.ca/M1_GARAND_CASM_Scope Mount.html

The only other scout handguard for the garand I'm seeing is:

m14.ca Made an M14 and an M1A version. Here's the M1A version: http://www.m14.ca/M14_M1A_SCOUT_HAND_GUARD_SHG.html

Here's one for a medium weight barrel: http://www.m14.ca/M14_M1A_SCOUT_HAND_GUARD_SHG-MEDIUM-WEIGHT.html

Check out what else they have at http://www.m14.ca

See if they still make and sell it. The website has a number in Canada for you to call. The scout handguard for the M14 helped in barrel stabilization and, thus, accurizing the M14. Um... Maybe I misunderstood what you mean... M1a and the garand are not the same... (m14 and m1a pretty much are) This won't fit the garand unless you fit a m1a barrel onto the garand receiver (doable)...

Sorry, I edited my post. You're right, I meant something else entirely. No, they're not the same and they won't fit, unless you change barrels around and that will get complicated due to op rods and such. I thought I had remembered an m1 garand solution on the m14 site, but I was mistaken.

It was for the m1 garand, I fell down the rabbit hole & ended on the phone with a nice cbsa officer who said it went for secondary review & I should see a tracking number shortly.

Long story short I told the officer I double checked the legislation/rules on both sides prior to purchasing & said if there were any duties or changes in the rules, let me know so I can take the pp slap, she assured me I was good, just caught them off guard 🤣🍻

I just wanna spruce up a Canadian rifle 🤷‍♂️ hard to stay in the hobby lately..

I also chatted with that m14 fellow, nice guy. Still doin well 🍻

The worst news boys and girls. the converted m1 garands to .308 are overlooked by all providers..

it does not fit, after all that time, effort and logistical nightmare of phoning for my parts, it doesn't even fit lol. bruh. so much for bolt on see you later. be prepared to go see a gunsmith if you are incapable of doing it yourself.

If you are 30-06 this is not an issue, and enjoy. .308 is a different story. funny how my friend just taught me the differences in lengths, even though its pew pew vs pew pew to many viewers of this forum.
