Garands coming to Canada??

Given the opportunity this thread could last as long as the Alberta Militia one. And be about as relevant.

But hey, we never thought the LGR would die so maybe there is hope Tiny Tim.

And ya. Bring back those chocolate sea weed shakes. they were good. and Miami Vice.

Miami Vice with Garands... But how would they not get knocked out of those canvas deck shoes by the recoil? And I just can't see a Garand lowering itself to associate with dudes wearing pastel.

Magnum P.I., on the other hand... that could work. Garands, big mustaches, and Hawaiian shirts are a classic combination that never goes out of style.

Full Garands/any and all parts would be very welcome by me. Might bring prices back down to reasonable levels. I got 2 receivers collecting dust in the closet because I can't justify the price of building/getting one built. I'd love for both of them to be nice full rifles but it would cost 2-3k$ to get them done up. I know we have an expensive hobby and all but jebus, Garands are way to rich for my blood these days.

Large stockpiles of weapons are a great source for governments to surreptisiously arm forgien fighters. If you ever wonder where all the weapons come from for rag tag militias around the world, these caches are a source.

I was cruising the American gun forums ( they have a few) and read that there was supposedly 5,000 Garands inbound to Canada this month. Has anyone else heard of this? Korean surplus? Importer? Or is this just another rumour of wishful thinking. Would they be sold here or parted out to places untold?

What American forum? State your source! We need facts not some hear say stuff.

But those rag tag militias are armed with AK's Moisen Nagants, and SKS's, not Garands

Except in Haiti...

It appears the Garand still drops by some of the world's more awful places to do what it does best.

Maybe we will get a batch of unused ones like the ones among the 18,000 M1's the Greek Air Force returned to the USA in 2009 -

Our President Obama has banned the import of Korean M1 Garands to the U.S. and we can't even get the Chinese copies you get in Canada. So "WHY" are you reading American forum rumors started by unemployed unicorns fired from McDonald's.

Lummis’ bill, HR 2247, was proposed in June to override a State Department decision to block the re-importation of collectible M1 Garands and M1 carbines:

The bill reverses a State Department decision to block the importation of historic M1 Garand rifles and M1 carbines from South Korea. Originally furnished by the United States to South Korea for military purposes over 50 years ago, the rifles are widely sought collectors’ items and among the most popular rifles in marksmanship competitions. The rifles are perfectly legal to manufacture and sell in the United States and like all firearm imports would be subject to the federal rules and regulations governing retail firearm sales. A similar sale from South Korea was approved during the Reagan Administration. The current State Department’s interference with the sale runs counter to the intent of Congress, which on two prior occasions amended the law to allow for this kind of transaction.

Once re-imported, these rifles would have entered the Civilian Marksmanship Program, where they would be inspected, graded, and sold to marksmen and collectors involved in CMP-affiliated clubs.

If you want the best rumors then read the American CMP website and forums, the CMP is the only way to buy a M1 Garand other than gun show transactions. Our U.S. State Department is blocking the importation of Korean M1 Garands by putting pressure on the Korean government to not release the M1 Garands for sale.

The American CMP is employing aggressive unicorns and bad ass cats in our fight with liberals to get M1 Garands re-imported to the U.S.A.

Holy Crap!

Presumably the CMP sold those off?

Our Republican President George Bush let these M1 Garands into the U.S.for the CMP and then the new Obama administration had the State Department ban imports as a back door gun control method.

Now I'm going to make you cry...............You know when your a good dad when your son buys you a M1 and a AR15 carbine as Xmas and birthday presents.

I traded a Isahpore 2a1 for the Chinese SKS and traded in some noisy magots and paid out $10.59 for the AR15 A2 HBAR. (my son isn't a cheap bastard like his dad) f:P:2:

My oldest and wiser son just gave me a bottle of my favorite beer for Xmas. (he takes after his dad and is a cheap bastard and has a sick sense of humor too) :bangHead:
