I know this has been beat to death. But if you can swing one buy it. What a game changer. You can literally take it or use it anywhere and you will. So easy to pack and set up. Reads every time. No worry about lighting or POI shifts. It’s a no brainer.

I received my Garmin Xero from Nechacko Sports Feb 4 this year and held on to my Lab Radar till Late April and sold it at our
Kammy Gun s show . I used both for about 4 tryouts and then put the lab away and never looked at it again ! The Garmin Xero is an absolutely incredible little piece of Electronics ! Easy Peasy to use and I get up to 6 hours on a charge . As Chuck does I too highly recommend one ! I have shot at least several thousand Rounds out and Never had a a fail to report . There’s a few guys in FClass that have them permanently mounted to there rifles and record every shot fired . Get one if you can . RJ

I picked one up as well and can say I’m very happy with it. I’ve never used a Labradar personally so only have stories from others.

I do want to test one of the new Labradar LX models (I want to buy one and compare) so it’s not a sponsored person doing the review and be impartial. I’d also love to have a bunch of people test them both out and an event and see which they like.

Garmin was just on the ball and had it in development at the right time. Taking technology from other products and putting it towards this stuff just made sense.

Sigh… I know where my Christmas money is going. Time to retire the twice grazed, only slightly bent, 20 year old Shooting Chrony.
You won’t regret it. I’ve had mine for awhile now, and its the only chronograph I’ve never felt like smashing at some point. It’s so easy to set up, and works so well there that there is little reason to not have it turned on on every shot taken from a bench or prone.

Maybe worth a look is the LabradarLX, made in Canada and seams as good as the garmin, bulkier and heavier but possibly sturdier…
Canadian made is a big thing for me!

I’m planning on trying one but spending 800$ plus when I already have a Garmin is tough. I agree made in Canada is a big thing for me. Downside is they get allot of hate on previous units, the app and general customer service. I have no experience with any of it so I wanna try it and go in fresh eyes to see if it’s worth it. Plus Garmin is a much bigger company so hard times are less likely to shut them down as a business.

I was looking at both hard but got the Garmin at a discount so I couldn’t say no to it and I am glad I didn’t because it’s so simple to use. Hopefully the Labradar LX is the same but we will have to wait and see. I wish they would send test units out to competitions or events for people to try. Also coming out after the Garmin did allot of people already had a unit and didn’t need the LX.

I agree on all you said here! Everything I have garmin is been flawless. So far all the reviews on the LX have been bias from people that have been sponsored or people that own Labradar and want to continue with the brand! Garmin seems to have a lot more positive reviews from non sponsored shooters and so maybe more accurate reviews!

I used to dread so much setting up the F1 chrony, so I made the decision to get a Xero a few months ago. Its a game changer.
So easy to setup, you can collect shooting strings on your phone app, so small to pack, sunny days are no issue, can use indoor with fluorescent lights (of course with pellets in airguns) but you do have to remember to charge it. Will they release a battery replacement down the road as the rechargeable will eventually degrade?
For me, its worth the cost of ease

Agreed. Too many years setting up finicky optical chronographs. The Xero is just way too easy to set up and use. The app is super simple as well. It all just works.

I've had mine out at least 5-6 times and hasn't had to charge it yet.

While not cheap, it was worth every penny for eliminating all the hassles associated with a large, finicky optical chronograph.

The Garmin is worth every penny. Charge lasts forever, never misses a shot, doesn’t need a trigger for arrows, it’s tiny, idiot proof. I want to support Canadian made products too and I had a Labradar, but there’s no comparison for the old unit. The new labradar may be good but they probably missed the boat unfortunately.
