As of today, we're still paying $1.15 down here on the Rock. With Hurricane Rita heading toward the Gulf Coast, there was talk that gas prices would be jumping $0.75/L at 12 Midnight. One report said that it was going up even higher, up to $2.25/L   I'm praying the latter is Bull $hit, but I definitely see an ass raping by the gas companies coming our way.
I'd like to live in their world for a day. Where else can gasoline that was bought and paid for by the individual gas station owners at $1.15/L, suddenly, overnight increase in value geometrically! The government turns a blind eye, because they're raking in 50% of the "take." Should be a law that price increases aren't permitted until the current supply already in their tanks has been exhausted. That fuel has already been refined, transported and sold to the end distributor. There are NO additional costs related to it, so why should a Hurricane 3000 miles away have any effect on its price...unless the gas companies are "profiteering". During wars, "profiteers" are usually shot or put in jail...in Lieberal land they're given a pat on the back and told "good job!"
